Chicagos Chief of Police, who previously blamed government-sponsored racism and Sarah Palin for Chicagos gun violence, declared that the law-ful exercise of the Second Amendment was a threat to public safety. From the Illinois State Rifle Association:
Chicagos embattled police superintendent dug himself deeper into a pit of controversy today by claiming that lawful firearm owners are agents of political corruption. Appearing on a Chicago Sunday morning talk show, superintendent Garry McCarthy expressed his conviction that firearm owners who lobby their elected representatives or who donate money to political campaigns are engaged in corruption that endangers public safety. McCarthy went on to express his belief that judges and legislators should rely on public opinion polls when interpreting our Constitution.
After totally dismissing the citizens right to redress grievances, McCarthy trained his constitutional wisdom on the 2nd Amendment. Despite recent court decisions to the contrary, McCarthy opined that the 2ndAmendment limits citizens to owning smooth-bore muskets. McCarthy went on to say that he believes that the 2nd Amendment supports mandatory liability insurance for firearm owners and the mandatory application of GPS tracking devices to civilian owned firearms.

police unions and corruption are the big dangers to public safety.
Coming from the Police Chief of the Blowhard City, this makes me laugh.
What does this asshat know about public safety?
In a sane world this should cost him his job. But obama is president and this is Chicago we are talking about....
Only the police, military and government should have guns...Right Gary?
They love the ‘enforcement’ part.
They tend to ignore or misunderstand the ‘law’ part and now seem to be actively eliminating those three inconvenient letters.
LAPD’s Chris Dorner was a danger to public safety.
> Chicago Police Chief: Second Amendment Is A Danger To Public Safety
That’s the Left’s new meme to unhinge the 2nd Amendment.
They’re beating the drums now ....
Like Jerry Williams used to say, “Oh, the drums! The drums are making me crazy!”
BTW - YIPPIE!!!! FreePer is BACK!!!
The Second Amendment is not a problem...
Chicago is a danger to society!
It’s only a matter of time before Obama says the 1st amendment is a danger to society.
The poll I took showed overwelming support for Mr. McCarty's arrest for abuse of Power, malfeasance of office and treason.
Behind the propaganda theres action. Take a look at the ‘No More Hesitation’ targets from LETargets. This is what the feds and various other agencies are using in an effort to become desensitized. Desensitized to what you might wonder. To me it looks like gun owners.....
Mayor Booker, Chief McCarthy and Attorney Christie were in charge when the illegal aliens in NJ committed the Newark Massacre.
Chicago is a danger to public safety, we should dig a moat around it and string razor wire.
So for all the talk of outgunned police, banning “assault rifles”, and leaving us with muskets only, just how many people are mowed down annually with rifle fire in Chicago?
According to an analytical report on 2011 murders on the Chicago PD’s own website (chicagopolice.org): ONE. Out of 433 total murder victims, one was shot with a rifle. A whopping twenty-three hundredths of one percent.
Per the CPD, the overwhelming preponderance of Chicago murders relate to gang members and drug trafficking. Murder rates for whites (as victim or perpetrator), and anyone NOT part of drug/gang activity, are very low. Why does Chief McCarthy allow rampant gang activity to rule his beat? Why talk up a non-existent problem instead of shining a light on the roaches? Are the gangs “spreading the wealth around”? Someone who cared about children and bystanders killed in the gang crossfire would spend their time attacking gangs, not the COnstitution.
One day - eventually “against all enemies, foreign and domestic” is going mean something more than words...
“What does this asshat know about public safety?”
More importantly, he’s probably pissing himself over the recent ruling of the Seventh Circuit Court that supports the 2A and gives the State legislature only 180 days to bring the state’s laws into compliance with Heller. This guy reminds me of the Chief of Police from Emeryville, CA who just told us that guns were offensive weapons, then says that the police officers have them for their own protection.
Well, from the prospective of a Chicago policeman, i can see his point.
