Pastor questions grand jury indictment in 'road rage' shooting death

HOUSTON -- The pastor of the young woman who indicted for murder five months after a road rage incident in northwest Harris County says that if the races were reversed there might not be a murder indictment at all.

Crystal Scott, 23, shot and killed 22-year-old Jonathan Ables, September 17, 2012 ...

The drivers had pulled into a Shell gas station at Perry and FM 1960 after Scott says Ables bumped her car.

“Unfortunately the actions of an enraged man led to his untimely death,” said Scott’s pastor, Bishop James Dixon, II, who held a news conference on Wednesday -- the day after the indictment was announced.

"Had this been a black male, a white female, most people are doubtful we'd be having this kind of press conference,” said Dixon when a reporter asked specifically about the race issue and whether he thought a white female would face a murder charge under similar circumstances.

"How is it that you get a murder charge when you're the one under attack,” Dixon asked.

Crystal Scott surrendered to authorities Tuesday night for a mandatory booking process and was released pending trial on $50,000 bail.

This chick shot at least twice. One hit the car window frame and perhaps was the ricochet shot that hit a man’s car that was pumping gas. The second and possibly more, hit Jonathan Ables, an unarmed man. Notice the damage on his car (accident) and not hers? At the very minimum this woman is guilty of reckless discharge of a weapon and manslaughter/negligent homicide to intentionally leaving her car and shooting once and possibly twice hitting a man that was backing away from her. She got OUT of her car. Intent.

What is surprising is that the police initially bought her story despite the obvious forensic evidence available to anyone with eyes to see. She was lying bigtime from the start.

What the h*** did she mean that he was trying to get in her car???

Anyone can see that a bullet fired from inside the car broke the side window. It was not broken by someone outside banging on it, but from the inside from someone trying to shoot through it.

And furthermore with no crowbar or other instrument at his disposal there was not the remotest possibility of any kind of forcible breaking and entering.

So that would leave one last thing — the door handle. Pulling on a car door handle to open it is not a criminal offence or life threatening, especially since the person in the car, if she truly was afraid, would have locked it.

I also understand that she was subsequently charged with reckless driving that day as other drivers took her license plate down and called and reported her. That together with her arrest 10 days earlier for expired vehicle registration among other things would make her an insurance risk and send her premiums through the sunroof — a reason to make her very angry at the person walking over to her car who gonna be asking to see your insurance card.

But instead of pulling the insurance card out of the glove box, she pulls out her handgun and ambushes him — and then gets out of her car and chases him down as he’s backing up and shoots him again in cold blood to finish him off — and then has the audacity to claim victim status.

When you wade through the Queen Letitia BS and past the self defense smoke screen, this becomes a clear case of premeditated murder.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that is what the Grand Jury billed for her — Murder One — First Degree Murder with Premeditation. We’ll find out in a few weeks.

i am anticipating the character assassination and the RACE CARD to be played BIG TIME.

They will also try to play the single mother card.

And that will be a clear indication that the facts are against her -- and they are.

Being that her car windows were tinted, he may not have known that she was black until she got out of the car.

And she was no demure female. Look at the size of her. I'm not sure that if they had gotten into a scuffle if she might not have beaten the dickens out of him.
