The city of Tampa has issued a system-wide boil water notice due to a power failure at its David L. Tippin Water Treatment Facility.

The outage resulted in either temporary low pressure or loss of water service to customers, the city said in a mid-afternoon Friday statement.

TECO and city crews are working to make repairs. “All customers within the city of Tampa water service area are reminded to follow precautionary boil water for a minimum of the next 48 hours,” the city statement said.

Updates will be posted as they become available on tampagov.net/water.

Forty-eight hours of boiling water, with a major sports venue on for this weekend.

Every time I started a shift in field conditions, the first thing I did was put 75 gallons of water on to boil. I always served my meals, even if we took a power hit, and always managed to get the pots and pans washed at the end of the meal. ;)

Takes at least two big airmen to handle a 25 gallon pot of hot water, though. And you might have to speak harshly.

<< reminded to follow precautionary boil water for a minimum of the next 48 hours >>

They want you to boil the same water for 48 hours? Won’t that make it all evaporate away?

/sarcasm off

I work in Tampa.... We noticed the low water pressure....didn’t think a lot about it.... Figured someone was flushing out some system in the warehouse area I work in...

Of course I was sucking down water from the fountain for about two before we got notice....

I’d probably get Ebola now..... / S

People are so complacent, depending on someone else to furnish them water and power and in one second, it can go away.

I don’t have to depend on any public utility working for what I need. If it stays off forever, that is okay, too. My standard of living won’t suffer. I know you, Sarge, are okay, too. (I went to the prepper single’s website you told us about, and I’m not doing that. Don’t want my info. on there.)

She was going to go on that thread and vent her purple-cheeked umbrage...
