Obama’s sequester deal-changer (i.e. lies)
WAPO ^ | Feburary 22, 2013 | Bob Woodward

Posted on 02/23/2013 7:13:45 AM PST by yoe

Misunderstanding, misstatements and all the classic contortions of partisan message management surround the sequester, the term for the $85 billion in ugly and largely irrational federal spending cuts set by law to begin Friday.

What is the non-budget wonk to make of this? (who is responsible)? What really happened?

The finger-pointing began during the (third presidential debate) last fall, on Oct. 22, when (President Obama blamed congess) “The sequester is not something that I’ve proposed,” Obama said. “It is something that Congress has proposed.”

[snip] This was an acknowledgment that the president and Lew had been wrong.

Why does this matter?

Woodward: Obama fibs on budget cuts"

There is absolutely nothing about 0bama that isn't a lie, starting with his birth.

The exact same thing could be said about Obamacare. The president and his party, yet again, engaged in outright lying (to buy votes). It’s what Democrats do.

I am still betting that a deal will be reached at the last minute. It will be some accounting gimmick. Neither party wants to make any real cuts in spending.

That’s a pretty good bet. I wouldn’t touch it.

“Key Republican staffers say they didn’t know what a sequester was...”

Sheesh. Perhaps if staffers were hired by the moss backs in the e-GOP on the basis of expertise instead of being children of campaign contributors or leggy blonds, we wouldn’t read such embarrassing information in the Washington Compost.

No wonder TEA Party conservatives are sick of such inept representation in D.C.

That’s a safe bet and you’ll likely be proven right. Some form of “adjustments” will be made and couched in the usual obfuscating terms and phrases. Spending is the “oil” that lubricates the political machinery that is Washington, DC.

One thing we know for certain: this year’s federal expenditures will be greater than last year’s.

Wait for McCain to come out on the Sunday morning talk shows, excusing Obama for his lies, asking the media to NOT get “worked up” about who said what, and let the “bipartisan” “moderates” from both sides (as if anything on the left is “moderate”) reach a compromise.

The one thing I know McCain has become famous for is his penchant to sugar coat the extremes of our opponents, while simultaneously calling our own GOP Conservative stalwarts extreme. I expect nothing less from him in this case and know how much the media is hoping he will join their efforts to play down Obama’s lies.

Notice how hard it is for a liberal like Woodward, even when he is trying to be factual, to utter the words, “The President is lying to the American people.”

If Obama had been a white Republican -- pro-life, opposed to gay marriage, and defending the Second Amendment -- the press would never let him get away with the enormous quantity of lies he's been telling, on any number of topics.

The sequester, the debt ceiling , Benghazi, you name it. Obama is lying. And the press is eager to enable his lies.
