BREMERTON, Wash. —

A homeowner opened fire at a man who was demanding to be let into her home Wednesday, police said.

Around midnight, Terry Brumage’s family was asleep when they heard an angry voice at the front door of their home.

A man was demanding to be let in.

Brumage said she did not know who the man was so she armed herself with a .38 caliber handgun.

Usually drunk and thinks they are home. Ask LEOs how many of these they have to answer a year. More than you might think...lol

From the story;

Police said the man at Brumage’s door was drunk and had the wrong house, believing he was at his sister’s house.

The man may face trespassing charges but investigators do not believe he meant any harm to Brumage and her family.

I am sure that there are any number of 'wise' liberals/latinas who would say that the homeowner over-reacted, she should have blown a whistle or posted a no-gun zone sign or a no-drunks permitted sign.

I hope that no dogged rising DA looks at this in anti-gun Washington State and decides to prosecute for illegal discharge in a neighborhood. Probably not if the drunk was not of a protected color or religion and since no blood was actually shed.

Missing piece of the story though, was the gun confiscated for tests and how large was its magazine?

Drunks do this sort of thing a lot. One homeowner I heard of had a problem with this because his home had formerly been owned by a prostitute, and drunks would show up in the wee hours, three sheets to the wind, and start pounding on his door.

After pointing a gun at a few and telling them to vamoose, he discovered the police truism that sometimes they are so drunk that they don’t even register what a gun is.

So he installed a special port in the door for an air horn.

He soon concluded that it was worth it, for the entertainment value alone.

“... anti-gun Washington State...”

WA is certainly a blue state but it’s hardly anti-gun except in the metro-Seattle/Tacoma area. We are a ‘shall issue’ state when it comes to concealed carry permits and have very few firearms restrictions that I an aware of. If you shoot an intruder inside your home you’re on pretty firm ground.

The usual idiots in Olympia are at work again trying to close some phantom “gun show loop holes” and require more background checks but I doubt it’ll go anywhere. Right now, if you have a CCP, no further check is needed to buy a firearm and walk out with it right then. I wouldn’t expect that to change.

It was easier for me to get my concealed-carry permit in WA than it was in GA as odd as that may sound.

Great idea! I use an air horn, just hadn't thought of this use. I have a rotten neighbor next door, he has a worthless welfare daughter who used to blast rap music every morning - starting at 7 a.m. I put a stop to that by going up to the fence under their open window, and blasting an air horn. After a couple times doing that, the loud music stopped. Also use it on their dog when it won't stop barking, they take it inside after I use the air horn. Very effective device. (And they known I have guns for backup, but the air horn is non-lethal.)
