A Slaton family survived an encounter with a burglar late Saturday night. The man who law enforcement has not been able to identify yet was shot in the leg by the male homeowner in the 6000 block of CR 7920.
Lubbock County Sheriffs Office Lt. Bryan Taylor said the homeowner heard a crashing sound, got up to check on his family and retrieved his firearm to investigate further.
All family members were in place but thats when the homeowner confronted a burglar.
The homeowner gave the intruder several commands to get on the ground but the intruder refused to comply. The intruder made a move towards another family member and the homeowner shot him in the leg, Taylor said.

In the leg? The only way I would do that would be for further torture before Big Brother’s Thugs arrive but by the time the thugs arrive the burglar would be no more.
Slaton is near Lubbock and only has a population of about 6,200. But they get more than their fair share of bad guy shootings.

Their crime statistics show something odd as well. From 2001 to 2007 there were only 3 reported rapes. But from 2008 through 2011 there were 32 reported.
That is so 18th century. Those home owners need to forget those single-shot guns and buy repeaters.
