A US engineer whose online claims didn't turn out to be true have left a Gothenburg woman out of pocket and brokenhearted, and one of dozens of Swedish women who have fallen victim to an increasingly common online dating scam.

*Any* civilized person should be very,*very* wary of people they've met online.Case in point....a few years back there was a big story in the Boston area about a world famous Harvard Medical School professor (that part was true) who wound up murdering his wife.Stabbed her a dozen or more times.Testimony from several of his wife's friends proved that a few days before her death she discovered that he was “dating” through “swinger” websites and she told her friends that she was gonna divorce him (a reasonable decision surely).

Well, the first clue might have been the web site. Happypancake as a dating site for adults doesn't sound too enticing to me. Maybe for bunnies looking for that elusive pancake hat.

Second, from the article it sounds as if she knew the fellah was Nigerian from the get go, so she was already trolling for strange. And she got it. At least he didn't brutally beat and rape her as the Swedish musims all too often do.

The Nigerian scammers intentionally mispell words and use incorrect grammer so that they elliminate 99% of the people that they send their “fishing” emails too. This is so that the only responders are the truely stupid people that they can then take advantage of. If you are dumb enough to respond to their story,as ridiculus as they are, along with the spelling and bad grammer they know you are potentially dumb enough to send them your banking information.

It is like chumming in the ocean. Throw out enough chum and you eventually attract the fish. They are just trying to get the fish that is dumb enough to jump right in the boat.

The hidden clue was that the young woman was 37, which tells me the baby clock is ticking really hard and the hormones were making the decisions. I doubt she looks anything like the two models in the photo. It’s equal-opportunity fraud. Sorry she got scammed. She didn’t deserve it but where were her friends to talk some sense into her?
