I believe he is exactly right. The enemy has long threatened to attack the US. In fact they have, with the two major attacks on the twin towers and a number of minor ones.

After 9/11/01 the enemy had to play defense as the George Bush administration went after them in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US chose the battlefield. But now, we are tired of war and are withdrawing within our borders. And we can expect the enemy to go on the attack. They will! Put yourself in their place. They are now free to operate wherever they wish. Who is to stop them? - not the US. Essentially we are following the Vietnam model, only this time the enemy will keep on, keep on coming.
