On Friday, March 15, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. Bob McDonnell will go to CPAC and address the Faith & Freedom Coalition Prayer Breakfast. For those of you who attend this event, you will be sitting staring at a liar.
If you are a conservative, remember Bob McDonnell thinks you’re an idiot.
That’s the only explanation I can think of for what just happened in Virginia this week. That, and that McDonnell is an unprincipled fake conservative whose promises are without value, an exemplar of the kind of big government pro-tax Republican who ruined the party’s stature with fiscal conservatives.

Who pushed Romney? Not Erick from RedState. He was an ABR, and was a Perry supporter. Perry launched his campaign at the Red State conference.
This is the kind of useful idiot that the fat cats of the Republicrat Party will want to run for president in 2016.
There are many Americans, I being one, who believe that to wait to do anything shockingly decisive is to wait until our neck is broken by the hangman's noose. Most Republicrats sit by and watch while this phony, anti-American nobody from nowhere continues to butcher our nation and ruin our lives, our economy and our nation.
So many Americans refuse to realize that this scum is our ENEMY and now McConnell joins those who are against US!
The problem is that we have too damned many Bob McDonnells who claim to be conservatives but act exactly as Obama.
Unless I am mistaken, he had several very pro Romney articles.
Yeah, Erickson is obviously missing the irony in his diatribe here.
I just went back and looked at the RedState archives, and we’re mistaken, Erickson was pretty harsh on Romney from the start and never let up.
In that case, I retract fully.
Now I have to figure out why memory does not match reality.
Well, Erickson’s had his party-first RINO moments and he was no friend of Sarah Palin’s, which left a bad taste in my mouth. That’s probably the lingering odor you remember.
Could be, but it seems to me that after the primaries he did a couple articles that were very pro Romney. I dunno. It must be another talking head/pundit I’m thinking of, but for some reason RedState and EE sticks in my mind.
Yeah, I’m not an Erickson fan either, even though he did do that “Leper’s List” after the 2008 election, noting who the backstabbers of Sarah Palin were. That list went away pretty fast though.
OK it just klicked. It wasn’t Romney that made me crazy with EE, it was his support of Perry. I reread your and other posts on the thread and his Perry support just went over my head on first pass.
I had been in several flamewars at the time with Perry backers over his TX corridor/border fence/HPV BS and had EE thrown at me as an example of how ‘Hardcore right wingers” were backing Perry.

There’s no reason not to vote for the Democrats in VA. At least they’re honest about what they’ll do.
With the GOP, you never know what you’ll get when you vote for them.
Isn't he right? Conservatives vote for these same turncoat Republicans year after year. How many millions of Conservatives vote for the likes of Mitt "I support homo adoption" Romney, Juan McLame, and Limp-wristed Lindsey. The GOP knows all they have to do is point to their Democrat pals and say, "Vote for us or those wascally ol' liberals will win," and they have the conservative vote in the bag.
In think McDonnell has a point when he argues that, without spending more on transportation, Virginians will be paying even more due to the costs of congestion — the value that travelers place on their time, higher gas bills, more wear and tear on their cars, land use restrictions required by clogged roads, and increased insurance rates due to increased likelihood of accidents.
The needed revenue should have been raised entirely from the users, via the gas tax or tolls. And some of the mass transit spending will not be cost effective. But Virginians could not wait for years for the perfect bill to get passed.
That’s nice, but it misses a more important point — that what Erickson says about McDonnell stands or falls on it’s own, and has nothing to do with whether at some point Erickson might have decided to say something nice about Romney.
McDonnell backed Romney. So even if you are going to judge between them based on pro-Romney comments, McDonnell would still come out a loser.
It’s tiresome to try to discuss current problems without being distracted by complaints about what politician some pundit decided to back in a prior race.
If we restrict accepting attacks on current politicians to those attackers with a pure record, we’ll hardly ever have any good pieces posted about what the current politicians are doing wrong.
So I say if Juan Williams happens to make a good point about some republican politician, we should post and discuss it. It’s the message, not the messenger.
The Democrats knew McDonnell wanted a legacy, and they extracted a high price. But it was also the moderate senate republicans who undercut him.
He wanted to eliminate the gas tax, a bad idea but at least his replacement of a higher sales tax fairly spread the burden across everybody.
But that opened the doors. So in the end, we got a sales tax increase, didn’t get rid of the gas tax. And we got special taxes on people who buy certain types of cars, supposedly because they don’t pay their “fair share” since they use less gas (never mind that a Hybrid Camry uses a lot more gas than a sub-compact Jetta, or that a lot of diesels are in large cars).
Oh, plus we penalize people for living near northern virginia, granting tax authority to unelected regional bodies appointed in a way that allows a majority of people in fairfax to impose taxes on Prince William county residents to build roads in Arlington that the PWC people never use.
And we penalize people for buying new cars — even though replacing old cars is good for the environment AND good for the economy.
And there’s no guarantee that NoVa will get more transportation dollars, or that transportation will get all the new revenue.
A complete mess. That’s why it won a MINORITY of republican votes. This was a DEMOCRAT bill, passed by a Democrat majority and a republican minority.
When you control a supermajority in the house, and have the tie-breaking vote in the senate, and the governorship, you should NEVER have to pass a bill with majority democrat support. That is a complete failure.
Wasn’t Bob McDonald the protegee of Grover Norquist? Wasn’t Gov. Chris Christy also one? Correct me if I’m wrong.
