Jimmy Savile and the Cardinal: Britain's top Catholic cleric was friend of disgraced TV host (pedo)

Grinning and giving a thumbs-up, Britain’s most senior Catholic cleric poses with his friend, disgraced paedophile Jimmy Savile.

The snap, taken six years ago, emerged last night after Cardinal Keith O’Brien quit amid allegations of “inappropriate acts” towards fellow priests.

The photo was taken in Edinburgh in 2007 as fund-raiser Savile and the cardinal unveiled a £375,000 vehicle for the disabled.

The pair first met in the 70s, when O’Brien was a priest in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire – and worked with a friend of Savile’s mum.

Another priest at Kilsyth at the time has been suspended following claims of abuse against two young victims.

It was Cardinal O’Brien who ordered the investigation last September.

When Savile’s vile secrets became known, the cardinal called for him to be stripped of his papal knighthood, awarded in 1990.

Cardinal O’Brien quit just 24 hours before he was due to fly to Rome to help choose the next pope.

It could be...but the Cardinal was good friends with the guy.

Here is more on the politics of the situation.

That Cardinal was a conservative.

This reminds me of The Franklin Cover Up.

Benedict is scheduled to meet with his cardinals regarding the the report on Vatileak either today or tomorrow. It is said that the report includes high level members of the church who were having "gay parties" with other priest.

I suspect this cardinal was one of them. Mahoney the last cardinal from Southern California is another that has lost his right to vote for the new pope. It wouldn't surprist me if his name was included too.

“O’Brien’s recusal is also important as a precedent,” said Terence McKiernan, of BishopAccountability.org, a U.S.-based documentation center on child abuse by priests.

“Many cardinals scheduled to join the conclave have been involved as bishops in handling cases of clergy sexual abuse, and some of them have done such a bad job that they too should recuse themselves from the conclave,” he said.”

I don’t know how many Cardinals there are or how this would sway the vote but I have to guess that there is a lot of political manuevering going on.

i’m all for whatever they do to bring a stop to the tacit acceptance of child molestation that they had in place previously, but I’m not willing to make any conclusions about what is going on that is causing this unprecedented purge of senior clerics. I think it will take a long time to find out who was covering up what, and how much change will be needed to correct it.

But if it turns out that it looks like he did fall on the sword to rip the rug out from under the nightmare then I will have to praise him...Maybe it takes a Pope resigning to clear the evil from the Church.
I think the forty years of legalized abortion has contributed to the development of the predatory priest. So for the Church to upright itself completely, abortion must also end (see my tagline).

God Bless Pope Benedict, our cardinals, bishops, and priests.

P.S. I look forward to your "papal praise" should that time come. :)

The Pope was not clean enough to go after the gay mafia and it’s power structure in the Church. He was a part of the supervisory policy of cover up and denial power structure in the past.

However, I think he came to see just how evil that church policy was and how much damage it has done to the church and resigned so someone clean can come forward to take it on and get rid of it. I hope this is true. I pray the church can clean it out and reconnect with the holy spirit for a revival in Christ.

As this darkness has infilitrated the church and poisoned everyone around it. The worship of a pretend mary god has replaced the worship and powerful and redemptive spirit and mind of Jesus. I was raised as a Catholic, by the way. Like all normal Catholics, I want the church back from the dark side. We need it in the state of the modern evil world to be clean...a power of Christ.
