(CNN) -- Just like she did during the first half of the school year, first grader Coy Mathis wants to use the girls' restroom at her Colorado elementary school. But school officials won't let her.
The reason? Coy is transgendered, born with male sex organs but a child who identifies herself as female.
She has dressed as a girl for most of last year. And her passport and state-issued identification recognize her as female.
In December, the Fountain-Fort Carson School District informed Coy's parents that Coy would be barred from using the girls' restrooms at Eagleside Elementary in Fountain after winter break.

She could instead use the boys' bathroom, gender-neutral faculty bathrooms or the nurse's bathroom, the district said.

If the boy said he was really a dog, they’d have him on a leash pooping in the yard in no time. They they would have psychiatrists and others affirm his decision and not let him change his mind.

WTF is wrong with these people??!! They should be spayed and neutered so they can’t inflict this on any other child.
When I was a little girl, I wanted to be Rima, Queen of the Jungle. If my parents let me sleep in trees when I was in first grade, they would have been called out on it- first off, they wouldn’t let me do squat. I was a tomboy to the nth degree but NEVER thought I was a boy.
So, fast forward 15 years into this mixed up kid’s life- I foresee gay bars, possible prostitution, inability to identify with males or females, especially classmates, severe drug abuse and no relationship with these sperm and egg donors.

I remember thinking this about those horrible Charles Schulz “Peanuts” comic strips when I was growing up. I wanted to kick Charlie Brown right in the a$$.
I notice the article went all PC referring to the confused and abused little boy as “she” throughout the article.

This is a difficult one. In mammals, including humans, about halfway through gestation, male fetuses release some testosterone from their testes, that travels to their brain to tell it that it is a male brain. If that testosterone does not arrive, by default the brain is female.
IMPORTANTLY, which this may determine sexuality in animals, humans are more complicated, and this does not determine their sexuality, only their gender identity.
In the 1960s and again in the 1980s, researchers tried both chemically inhibiting this testosterone, or providing it when there was none, in animal testing. The result was male animals that thought they were female and vice versa. They even tried limiting it to just one hemisphere of the brain, ending up with animals that exhibited both male and female gender behavior.
The great concern is that there are many testosterone blocking chemicals in our environment, such as plant estrogen sprayed on crops to increase yields. While a feared explosion in gender androgyny has not taken place, there has been some degree of gender confusion among some children.
So what do you do with a male child whose brain tells him that he is a female? He likes what girl children like and does not like what boy children like, nor can he be trained to.
This is further complicated by parents that try to force either gender identification, or gender neutrality, on their children. Periodically some parents try to do this and it does not work.
To start with, such children need psychological examination to discover if they have inherent gender misidentification (on rare occasions caused by a dangerous underlying medical condition, such as a cancer); or if they have just been sociologically “programmed” by their parents to misidentify their gender.
In either case, it is a serious problem. For many such people it is so severe that they are willing to be sterilized to get gender reassignment surgery.
Ironically, once again, this does not determine sexuality, because even if a male whose brain is female gets gender reassignment surgery and looks like a woman, they may still be sexually attracted to women.
These are not happy people.
That is about the size of it
I call BS. I was a first-grader once, and I've known an awful lot of first-graders. Not a one of them has been sexually confused, gender-bent or even curious. With one or two sad exceptions all of them have been blissfully unaware of sexuality and pursue their overriding interest in toys, games and general childish mayhem with a refreshingly untainted singlemindedness. A transgendered first-grader is nothing less than a horrid case of child abuse perpetrated upont he child by an adult sexually deviant.
In a responsible society, someone would pay dearly for doing this to a child.
