Urge Your Senators To Put A Stop To Republican Gun Control Compromises
GOA ^ | Feb 27, 2013 | GOA Staff

Posted on 02/27/2013 10:26:22 AM PST by EXCH54FE

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Anti-gun Sen. Charles Schumer’s staff is leaking out to the press the Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn is “on the verge”of caving in and agreeing to a ban on private gun sales — and requiring virtually every American to get the government’s approval before exercising their constitutional right to become a gun owner.

According to The Washington Post (2/23/13), the remaining sticking point is Coburn’s reluctance to require a 4473 for every private transaction. Were this to occur, ATF’s practice of going into gun stores and copying all the 4473′s – a practice which has been documented by GOA – would soon produce a national gun registry.

Schumer’s people have also let it be known that they may have Susan Collins (R-ME), John McCain (R-AZ), and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) in the bag. (Note to gun owners in these states: These Senators really need to hear from you!)

Let’s assume, for the sake of argument, that the final version of the “Schumer sell-out” prohibits any paperwork from being kept on private gun sales.

Even then, the “Schumer Sell-Out” would still result in one out of seventeen legal gun purchases being permanently and illegally blocked.

According to scholar John Lott, 8% of all gun purchases are currently blocked by the FBI. But, according to a recent study by the Department of Justice, only 1.8% of the 8% are blocked because they are “denied.” That means that 6.2% are neither “denied” nor “approved.” However, because most gun sellers won’t sell a firearm under these circumstances, even after three days, these legal gun purchasers are permanently denied their constitutional rights by bureaucratic fiat.

From a purely partisan standpoint, the GOP should realize that guns will serve as a powerful political weapon for them, unless Coburn’s acquiescence to the “Schumer Sell-Out” takes guns off the table. In places like Arkansas and Montana, 95% of all voters would no doubt oppose the “Schumer sell-out,” as 95% of NRA members and 96% of 25,000 GOA members did in recent surveys.

"...agreeing to a ban on private gun sales..."

Completely unenforceable even if it does pass, since the government has no record of who owns most of the 300,000,000+ guns in private hands. They have no way of knowing if a sale or trade took place before or after the ban. So it would essentially be on the honor system, and I'm guess many, many gun owners are just going to ignore it rather than go through some convoluted process everytime they sell or trade a gun to a friend.

My two Senators are Cardin and Mikulski.

If Obama says Crap they ask where and how high would you like it piled/.

Owned and operated by the Dem party, neither has a mind of their own.

Mine happen to be St. Mark Warner and newly elected Tim Kaine, two of Obama’s most faithful worshippers. Warner is up for reelection in 2014, but as one of the Senatorial Sainted Ones, he knows his hold on that seat is one of the safest in the country. Contacting these two is an exercise in futility.

My senator IS SCHUMER. Though I do often send correspondence to him Gillibrand and my Dhimmicrat congressman.

It’s like spitting into the wind.

the politicians never see “us”.

the politicians only see the fringe of DC anti-second lobbyists. DC postings on signs. MSNBC. and the NYT.

They do not see REALITY.

look at how the NYT suddenly says “illegals” released. not “undocumented” released. this is a violation of their propaganda points. Why? because they are selling to the weak minded republicans.

John Mccain has ZERO respect for voters, citizens, or even the law. He is an arrogant jerk. (oh and thank for your service blah blah blah)

ALL incumbants do not fear the electorate. They knowingly use fraud. they knowingly use pork bribery. Mccain says nobody neeeddddsssss..... more than X.

in a magazine, that is 30 LIFE SAVERS. 30 chances to stop a madman invading your home, killing your child, looting your property/family in a disaster.

the bottom line. DC politicians AND ALL STAFFERS AND BUREACRATS see the people of the usa as the enemy TO THEIR PERSONAL POWER.

the US government moving to disarm the citizens is not going to stop because those in DC have been given their orders. It is a no brainer where this is leading and the government is obviously preparing. The longer it takes for the inevitable to start, the better prepared the government is going to be and once they achieve 100% readiness, they will take the first shot. Count on it.

Well said. I am sure there are still some in DC we can count on, but that number gets smaller every year.

personal power is more powerful than crack.

they have hot and cold running women (or whatever)

they have fawning lobbyists and MSM infobabes who will “spread them” for an interview. (see barbara walters as the queen of sleeze for stories)

The hights number of private clubs per square mile. UNLIMITED money for events and showing off. Main Street may be starving and jobless but the senate country club is baffled why somebody can be upset.

A few high profile “sting” operations of otherwise law abidding citizens is all it will take. Throw the book at farmer Joe for selling a side by side, give him 20 years for “firearms trafficking” and most people will fall in line.

We will continue to try and work through Legislative measures - until that no longer works - then we resort to the unspeakable Plan B.

I live in Illinois. Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk are my two Senators.

The first is a hardcore Obama bootlicker.

The second is a wannabe Obama bootlicker and claims to be a Republican.

What good would calling these two asshats do?

Why is Plan B unspeakable?

It’s high time the traitorous bastards were hoisted by their necks until their feet were off the ground.

“It’s high time the traitorous bastards were hoisted by their necks...”

Yes - we all know that - but it is going to be very bloody and many of us (Patriots) will die violent deaths in the process.

That is why we don’t normally speak openly about it. (Did I just say that out loud?)
