What's on your menu? Just got off the phone with my health care provider asking them to explain why my premium jumped up. No good answer!

Hard to know why without knowing who her insurer is, but I can think of two possibilities. You all know the first. Force companies to make insurance benefits more comprehensive and to expand coverage to people with preexisting conditions and you'll force them to make up the cost somewhere. The only (mild) surprise in Brazile's case is that, as is so often true under Obamanomics, it's young adults who are supposed to bear the brunt. And if those young adults decide they'd rather pay the penalty than buy insurance, DB's likely got another premium hike coming in the not-too-distant future.
The other possibility? Health-care costs keep increasing inexorably and her insurer had to hike premiums to keep up. Once upon a time, we were told that ObamaCare would help solve that problem. Jake Tapper wrote about it last year:
During Obamas term, between 2009 to 2012, premiums have climbed $2,370 for the average family with an employer-provided plan a rate faster than the during the previous four years under President George W. Bush, according to Kaiser…
At a rally in Virginia in June 2008, Obama said: In an Obama administration, well lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year.…
We wont do all this twenty years from now, or ten years from now, he said. Well do it by the end of my first term as President of the United States.…
Last year, I asked White House deputy chief of staff Nancy-Ann DeParle about that $2,500 in savings the president pledged. She insisted families will see that savings seven years after the president said it would be achieved by 2019…
Administration officials say they never claimed health care costs would go down, only that they would grow at a slower rate than they would have without the Affordable Care Act.
Yeah, “bending the cost curve” was an early ludicrous ambition of O-Care but that gradually became secondary to the goal of comprehensive coverage as the bill oozed its way through Congress. As it is, some insurers are now hiking premiums by double digits to match rising costs. The feds’ response? Those rates would be even higher without the new regulations. You’re welcome, America. Exit question: How long before Brazile and her colleagues start tweeting about the need for single-payer?
Why are your health-care premiums rising? Because you voted for it, that’s why. Twice. Enjoy the fruits of your stupidity.
Because the combination of elections and ignorance can have some expensive consequences.
Let’s see. Health care premiums are NOT going down, and Obama care is NOT going to reduce the deficit. Just the opposite in both cases. Now just who was it that predicted that would happen. Only every conservative on the planet. Next time they surely will listen to us.
This would be funny if she hadn’t dragged the rest of America on her idiot journey.
The first in, hopefully, a long line of former FOBO’s saying,”Ah, hey, I thought I was on the IN list”.
these mouth breathing royal family wannabes would do a whole lot better with, just to start, an acquaintanceship with the works of Shakespeare. They’re living it, they just don’t know it.
Approximately 20% of Berliners voted for Hitler, and no German city suffered more from the consequences of the Nazis. What about all of us who never even considered voting for Obama? We have to suffer for her stupidity, too.
“In America, you have the right to be stupid.”
“Because you voted for it, thats why.”
Well I sure as heck didn’t vote for it - and mine are now more than my mortgage!! I really can’t wait until Obamacare fully kicks in so it will be free.
It’s the greedy insurance companies, they just want to make more profit. The only way to stop them is to have the government provide healthcare coverage.
That’s the point of her tweet.
It’s not some “uh, whah hoppin’?” kind of thing.
Our premiums dropped 4% this open enrollment period . . . go figure.
RE: In America, you have the right to be stupid
And Donna Brazile and most of America just exercised that right last November.
RE: Our premiums dropped 4% this open enrollment period . . . go figure.
Did you check if the benefits are the same as before?
LOL poor Donna..dumb as a bucket of rocks..my apologies to rocks everywhere for that comment..gee Donna..you voted for Obama..TWICE..we warned you..but did you listen..NO..because ideology trumps everything else
That would be because you passed it before you found out what was in it.
HOPE AND CHANGE, DONNA, HOPE AND CHANGE.
IT’S WHAT YOU WORKED SOOOOO HARD TO GET, NOW LOVE IT AND SHUT THE HELL UP!.............
Eschew attributing to malice that which can be explained by stupidity,
but never rule out malice.
The point of her tweet was that the evil greedy insurance companies are still screwing their customers, and government single payer is the only solution.
Benefits went up. If we had elected, as a company, to keep the same benefits our premiums would have dropped by 8% instead.
I understand your statement was sarcasm.
What many folks don't realize is that it is the insurance companies who are keeping the health industry in check.
Got Blue Cross as your carrier? Notice the EOB you receive from them which indicates the doctor's charges and the actual payment made by Blue Cross........
If you did not have insurance, you would have received the actual bill and been expected to pay it.
The inflated charges are a direct result of the medical industry's attempt recover the services charged to the uninsured who will never pay them.........
These are the folks who show up in the hospital emergency rooms day after day, night after night, with everything from a common cold to a gunshot wound but have no insurance and no intentions to pay the bill. And the hospitals are forbidden by law to deny them medical service.

“Can she really be that stupid?”
Let me help you! Fat, Black, Marxist!
I agree with you on this. To stooooped to believe. It’s seems like a put-up to start setting the stage for the push to single payer, which will be the big hue and cry if Pelosi gets to be speaker again in 2015. It’ll be a “crisis.”
VOODOO, Donna....VOODOO. YOUR Black Prez has you in a SPELL......enjoy it.
Guess she didn’t get a waiver.
Hey Donna, go complain to your boss.
Bet he will get right on that.
