Too many people in government just have no clue about the degree of suffering those who pay their salaries and giant pensions have endured for several years now. A few unwanted furlough days? Boo-hoo-hoo! Talk to the people in the private sector who, if they are fortunate enough to have any work, have seen multiple years of downward mobility while the feds have seen raises. (Perhaps we should call them the “well-feds.”) It is way past time for them to share in America’s pain. People are tired of being robbed blind by their “public servants.” The crowd in DC seems big on “reform” these days. Maybe what America really needs is federal employee pension “reform.” Do we really need to pay them not to work for 40 years? Can we afford to? They are paid on average more than private sector counterparts. Why can’t they save and invest for their own retirements, like all the peons who are taxed to support them?

I’m not going to beat up on federal employees but Lou Barletta nailed it on FOX this morning. A government that would rather turn criminals loose than let some federal employees go is too big and out of control.
