Having given up on trying to persuade Americans that taking guns away from law-abiding citizens will reduce the murder rate, Democrats have turned to their usual prohibitionary argument: "Why does anyone need (an assault weapon, a 30-round magazine, a semiautomatic, etc., etc.)?"
Phony conservative Joe Manchin, who won his U.S. Senate seat in West Virginia with an ad showing him shooting a gun, said, "I don't know anyone (who) needs 30 rounds in a clip."
CNN's Don Lemon, who does not fit the usual profile of the avid hunter and outdoorsman, demanded, "Who needs an assault rifle to go hunting?"
Fantasist Dan Rather said, "There is no need to have these high-powered assault weapons."
And prissy Brit Piers Morgan thought he'd hit on a real showstopper with, "I don't know why anyone needs an assault rifle." Of course, where he comes from, policemen carry wooden sticks.
Since when do Americans have to give the government an explanation for why they "need" something? If that's the test, I can think of a whole list of things I don't know why anyone needs.
I don't know why anyone needs to burn an American flag at a protest. The point could be made just as well verbally.
I don't know why anyone needs to read about the private lives of celebrities. Why can't we shut down the gossip rags?

Celebrity worship is a sign of decadence. Unfortunately “People” magazine is probably the most read publication in America.
Great article. I love this:
“I don’t see why anyone needs ...” is code for: “I don’t do it, so let’s ban it.”
That is exactly the mantra for Despot of New York city Mike Bloomberg. He does not care in the least if it hurts someones business or puts people out of work: If he doesn’t do it or use it then he bans it. All except guns of course. He needs guns for his bodyguards because only he is allowed defense by arms but nobody else.
My mother buys that rag like a religion, and I always ask her how the hell can she buy that crap. “Most beautiful people of the year” WTF is THAT?? Just the most obnoxiously superficial crap ever put to print.
“Hey Bob guess what? I made the Most beautiful people list in People magazine!”
“Well Joe, congratulations! Everyone here at the office is immensely proud of you! You’ve done well!”
“I dont see why anyone needs ... is code for: I dont do it, so lets ban it.”
People don’t ‘need’ all kinds of things. But freedom isn’t about ‘need’. I don’t need a Boss 429 Mustang. I’m ‘better’ off with my Ranger. Why, if I have the means, shouldn’t I buy one?
With guns, it’s all just excuses to disarm us. Ask them why THEY “NEED” to disarm us. Turn the tables.
Just look at the ratings for American Idol(atry).
I call it "Peephole".
Nice one.
Good article, the old Ann Coulter is making a comeback.

Seems like every other week there is some sorta Hollywood Mastruba... I mean Self congratulatory Award Ceremony that is just as meaningless as giving every kid a ribbon at a tack meet.
Coulter IS a Celeb.
And just what the hell is a “Kardashian”, and why are they always on the covers of every single magazine? Did they discover a cure for cancer or something?
To a social animal the breeding habits of those who are “alpha” in the pack are of legitimate concern.
If you were in England during the reign of Henry VIII and tied to the Boleyn family, you would have experienced a great deal of increase in power and prestige - but if you didn't keep you eye on the Seymore gal it could have meant your head.
For myself I don't consider Brad Pit an “alpha” of my pack - so I could care less if he is with Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Aniston. Other people indulge this primitive impulse. Entire industries rely upon this primitive impulse.
[”I don’t know anyone (who) needs 30 rounds in a clip.”]
When fifteen screaming anarchists with guns are coming after you...it’s needed.
I allowed for the double tap.
That’s a good question to ask, but being that the Republican party is now the “Democrat-lite” party I doubt any “Republican” will open his mouth with that to these constitution shredders. Democrats demand and these so called “Republicans” can’t bow and cower into a fetal position fast enough.
And if you’ll notice, absolutely none of them talk about the real reason these mass shootings happened: Because of mental illness. What do guns have to do with some psycho wanting to kill people? This is like blaming cars for drunk drivers. Is being burned alive, being blown up, being stabbed, preferable to being shot? “Oh the psychos are going to kill people so let’s ban guns because that is the least desirable way to go”. Their logic is freakin’ insane. I live in New York city, the largest mass murder here before 911 was this thing called “The happyland fire” in which ONE man who was ticked off at his girlfriend, decided to burn down the club she worked at and as a result 87 people were killed which beats any mass murder ever done by guns. But no, let’s ban guns while any psycho can still walk to any gas station and buy as much gas as he wants.

I hadn’t seen her for awhile then I realized she was standing sideways. ;)
Oh I TOTALLY agree with you. The GOP will do nothing but act as a foil while the dems plow forward. then get the scraps of power and pool parties in the aftermath. They prove it daily.
But the rest of us can ask those uncomfortable questions whenever opportunity arises. Every little bit of annoyance to the libriods makes me haZ a happy. Might even make a few of their less devoted flock think. Not likely, but possible.
Her sales took a hit. Had to run back to the right. Too late. We noticed. She lost my sales. I’ll never trust her again.
