Background checks for private party gun sales are useless without records. Once we have UBC’s, we will be just one mass murder away from registration. Once we have registration, we will be just one mass murder away from some confiscation.

Exactly correct. It just happens, that all the gun control legislation advances toward universal registration and expanding restrictions on what people can own arms, and what arms they can own. It is just a coincidence. It does not really mean anything. After all, all the politicians say they support the Second Amendment, with its guarantee of a right to government regulated hunting at the proper time and place. /massive sarcasm alert/
