Parents of transgender first-grader file discrimination complaint

(CNN) -- A transgender rights group announced Wednesday that it has filed a discrimination complaint in Colorado on behalf of a first-grader who was born a boy but identifies as a girl.

The filing stems from a decision announced last December by officials at Fountain-Fort Carson School District that Coy Mathis could no longer use the girls' bathroom at Eagleside Elementary.

Mother Kathryn Mathis said she and her husband were shocked.

"We were very confused because everything was going so well, and they had been so accepting, and all of a sudden it changed and it was very confusing and very upsetting because we knew that, by doing that, she was going to go back to being unhappy," she told CNN. "It was going to set her up for a lot of bad things."

Coy was born with male sex organs but has identified as female since she could express herself, her mother said. The child had attended classes during her kindergarten year with no problems and no complaints from anyone at the school, Mathis told reporters at the Colorado Capitol in Denver, where she was flanked by her husband, Jeremy, and four other children.

This child has been incredibly abused by its "parents", who should be in jail for reckless endangerment of a child, and statutory child rape. This kid needs to be placed in a loving Christian (or Jewish) foster home, and taught that it is what God made it, a male, and not a female.

The government officials that advocate for this kind of child abuse should also be in jail, or hung.

Getting tired of this kind of perversion in America. Something must break.

Was this the story about being one of a set of triplets had by the parents? It makes me wonder if it wasn’t part of invitro fertilization which isn’t very natural and that God may be having the last word about that process.

I have very few memories of life at 5. Most real solid, regular memories don’t form until close to 10 years. We can remember major events from our lives at that age (i.e. death of a family member or pet, accidents, friends), but being able to coherently say whether we want to be boys or girls is so far out of the norm as to be dismissible.

The fact that this child’s parents are promoting this nonsense indicates to me that they don’t deserve to be raising the other 4. Sick!

You are right to focus on this as child abuse. A first grader is not sexually aware. A first grader is not “transgendered.” If a first grade boy wants to wear a dress, its because he's playing make-believe or playing out some other fantasy that has nothing to do with sexuality. These parents have an agenda and are using a little boy to advance it in a manner that will really hurt him psychologically.
