I was detained for a longer period of time when flying out of the capital of one of the former Soviet constituents. I was treated courteously, but one doesn’t like to be detained in a corruption-ridden country where one cannot even read the alphabet.

I’ve always dreamed of being one of those people who never had to wait for anything when traveling on an international flight: First one off the plane, first one in line for passport control, gate only 100 feet from baggage claim, bags just coming around to me when I walk up, then a wink and a nod from the customs guys. Coming home, as a citizen, I feel pretty good if I can make it in 45 minutes, in the blocks to out the door. I guess MM’s friends are too special to have to spend an hour coming into MY country and having to show they are doing it legally. They can both just bite me.
