Harvard Crimson to scheming conservatives: Don’t apply to Harvard
Daily Caller ^ | 03/01/2013 | Robby Soave

The Harvard Crimson published an editorial urging conservatives not to apply to Harvard if they intend to criticize the university down the line for political points.

The editorial, titled “Warning: Do Not Enroll,” denigrates famous conservatives who graduated from Harvard and later sharply — and perhaps hypocritically — complained about the university’s liberal ideology, including former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, and Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly.

“If we could have spoken to these three men, we would have told them never to come to Cambridge,” wrote the staff of the Crimson. “We at The Crimson urge anyone who plans on one day scoring political points by maligning Harvard to neither apply, enroll, nor graduate from this fine institution.”

All three of the figures mentioned in the editorial have frequently and publicly criticized the political environment at Harvard. Cruz recently commented that during his time on campus, some members of the faculty were “Marxists who believed in … overthrowing the United States government.”

And Romney during the 2012 presidential campaign attacked President Barack Obama for spending too much time at Harvard — even though the former Massachusetts governor attended the Ivy League university even longer than the president did, earning both a J.D. and M.B.A. from its law and business schools.

But the Crimson editorial may inadvertently support some conservatives’ assertions about the liberal campus’ hostility toward conservatives.

“Harvard liberals sure are an accepting bunch,” wrote Nathan Harden, editor of The College Fix. “I wonder where anyone ever got the idea that Harvard was hopelessly biased?”

The overwhelming majority of reader comments on the editorial are negative, criticizing the Crimson for being “over-sensitive, always-offended, anti-free speech Harvard liberals.”

The communists just love freedom of expression and right to dissent, don’t they?

So now we finally find out were all the Tories went after the War with Britian was over.

Bunch of Bed wetting, cellar dwelling Cowards.

Barney’s are over rated legends in their own minds. A friend of mine is a Bouncer at a private club on campus. They make him sick.

Typical leftists: the most intolerant, narrow-minded, anti-free speech and anti-freedom hypocrits to be found anywhere. Totally predictable.

Cool. Now send the same message to all alumni associations. Dont want your your ivy decked ivory tower soiled with donations from any graduates who might be guilty of wrong headed thinking.

Not surprising. Even back in the 50s, when I went to Harvard, it was pretty liberal. But it was still possible to find some excellent professors and courses, if you looked around and chose carefully.

No longer. The professors are mostly a bunch of jerks, and virtually all of the good courses, in the humanities at least, are long gone. And Harvard Law, which used to be the top law school in the country, has gone completely berserk.

Dear Harvard Crimson,

Don’t stay in the United States if you plan on criticizing and undermining it after you graduate, assuming you can.

Sincerely,
Red Badger

The Harvard Crimson, a student-run periodical, may not want conservatives to come to Harvard, but it seems that the admissions folks feel differently, or at least they did in the case of my son. Although he didn’t formally announce his troglodytic conservative political (and religious and cultural) tendencies, it was sorta obvious from his application and associated materials. Yet, they accepted and welcomed him with open arms.

Although a minority, Harvard has a substantial conservative community, including folks one might describe as “fiscal conservatives,” folks to be described as “national security conservatives,” and a very large contingent of folks who could be described as “social conservatives.” A core group that largely integrates these three traditional pillars of Reagan conservatism revolves around the school’s Catholic community.

What a digrace that place is considering how and why it was established and what it has become.

Interesting to note: Harvard gives a tour of the campus for tourists. I went on it last summer. The guide, a Harvard student, told us the school is so heavily funded by it’s alumni, the only two entities richer are Bill Gates and the Vatican. She joked: a Harvard dropout & God.

If attending Harvard does not make one stupid, how did the editor of the Harvard Crimson become that way?

Many years ago I traveled to The Netherlands with a colleague who was a Harvard Graduate. She insisted on wearing her Harvard sweat shirt in her free time and was surprised that people snickered at her. When she asked why people were snickering, she was told in Dutch a Harv is a whore and Aard is Land and that her sweatshirt was advertising her as being from the Land of the Whores.

I was going to post that any conservative alum who now supports Hahvad’s Endowment should have his/her head examined. So much for freedom of thought and open discussion.

Ah, yes. The Left at little bitty Harvard "speaking truth to power" to the omnipotent, world-ruling bullies at Pacific Coast Bible College! Ha!

Harvard University is one of the best bits of evidence that the Left is actually secretly run by the "old rich" families who dominated the "Gilded Age" during the 1870's.

Only thing is David Rockefeller will turn 98 this year. Who's going to secretly rule the world after he's gone?

Harvard’s been overwhelmingly liberal for so long now you’d be hard pressed to find very many conservative alum who are still breathing.
