LOS ANGELES -- It is Academy Awards weekend in the nation's entertainment capital, and the 1 percenters are out in force. Wealth displays are running riot; robust consumption is the philosophical standard.
I am staying at the legendary Hotel Bel-Air, a place where a cheeseburger and fries costs more than $30. Business is good. For most guests, money is no concern. They have it; they spend it. Life for the swells is sweet -- or at least they want you to think it is.
President Obama has little use for these wealthy people, but strangely, many of them fervently love him for despising their circumstances. Unlike Bill Clinton, who couldn't get enough West Coast "hospitality," Obama takes their political donations and gets out of town faster than Wile E. Coyote. He knows show business is a shallow pit where almost everyone is disposable.
Above all, the president is a social justice man. And despite all the liberal celebrity blather, social justice is not exactly a top priority in the elegant salons of Beverly Hills, where hair treatments can run a thousand bucks. It must be hard for the president to cozy up to people who spend $20,000 on a weekend vacation after his experience in the South Side of Chicago. True compassion for the underprivileged must extend further than celebrity fundraisers at Spago, and the president knows it.
It is certainly difficult for good, selfless people to defend the excesses of capitalism, and Obama has capitalized on the resentment. He has seized the greed to fund his dream of a level playing field by demanding the wealthy pay "their fair share." The president is going to take as much money from the affluent as he can before he leaves office. He has turned the White House into Sherwood Forest -- taxing the rich and redistributing the cash to the less well off.
But the unintended consequences of the money grab have escaped the president. The folks who drive the economy don't trust him. Banks continue to sit on billions in cash that could be loaned to expand the economy. Many small-business owners are actually cutting back their payrolls because of the massive Obamacare regulations.
So instead of encouraging the private marketplace to create opportunities for Americans, Obama is actually strangling upward mobility. This defeats his purpose of economic justice, and the rising debt he is championing may, in the end, crush the underclass.
All of this is far too complicated for many show-biz types to absorb. It is much easier to feel than to think. And they feel much better about their $100,000 cars when they cheer for the social justice president.
But like Hollywood itself, America's current fiscal situation is primarily smoke and mirrors. And believe me, there is no wizard behind the curtain.

Maybe, but there sure seem to be a lot of snakes in the (Holly)Wood Pile.
You gotta be kidding! Barry and the Moose spend a heck of a lot more than that, on vacations and golfing dates.
Obama is taking money from anyone he can & redistributing it to his cronies, not the poor. The poor are getting poorer, by any measure. The middle class is getting poorer. Household incomes are falling as prices are rising. The Obama economy is redistribution as surely as are his high taxes. As "unprivileged" Americans struggle, the cronies - Soros, Buffett, Bloomberg, etc. - are profiting from the chaos created by the Obama economy.
Mugger is a more apt description of Obama.
Beck and others have told O’Reilly - and proved it - that Obama isn’t trying to make America prosperous...he’s taking America down to third world status. But O’Reilly can’t be told anything because he already knows it all. /sarc
In the third world, as under Communism, only those running the show manage to have anything. Or those cooperating with those running the show. Such as the crony “capitalism” of China.
Obama doesn’t want to uplift the poor, or protect the middle class. He wants POWER. To take and take and take and dole out to whomever he pleases. The more desperate the poor and middle class are, the more he figures he gets to manipulate their desperation into rock solid support for his propaganda.
And it isn’t just Obama. It’s the Dem party and assorted Leftist fellow travelers. Pelosi, for instance, is exactly the same.
I have several very wealthy and very liberal relatives.
This is their view:
1. They want all these socialist programs. It makes them feel good for all their wealth. Like they are helping the little people and doing God’s work. They will never PAY ANY of these taxes. They have armies of accountants, lawyers and tax avoidance schemes.
2. They will NEVER use these socialist programs. Wait on line for 4 hours to see a doctor under Obamacare? Go “Green” for their mansions and Land Rovers? Send their children to something other than the best private schools? Socialist programs are for the little people.
Looks like O'Reilly is sucking for another interview with preezy. Obama's own "weekend vacations" run ten times 20k and he doesn't blink an eye. As for his "experience on the South side" does BOR mean living in his million dollar mansion in Hyde Park? What a pinhead.

O’Reilly shows his ignorance and lack of respect for the facts by absorbing a twisted caricature of the legend of Robin Hood. He does this a lot on other issues as well where he presents untruths based on what he or his staff have absorbed from the NY press milieu of ignoramuses. This is why I stopped listening to him many many years ago. O’Reilly is a conveyor of garbage-in-garbage-out.
To set the record straight about Robin O’Sherwood. this from a previous post of mine:

Yes, but there were two parts to my O’Reilly comment. The first part is true, you can’t tell him anything. The second part - depending on how one reads it - isn’t true because it states that he already knows everything. Since I know he’s ignorant on whatever he chooses to be ignorant on - and that’s a LOT, I put a sarcasm warning there.
O’Reilly exposes himself in this article as “Dorothy” on a quest..
WHo is “ToTo”?... HAnnity?..
He bitching about the Wonderful Wizard of Hope...
Maybe he never grew up.. -OR- is a Lilliputian with Giantism..
Because he’s been around long enough to recognize Treason when he sees it..
Or the difference between Watergate AND MURDERGATE.. i.e. Bengazi..
Heck even Woodward can see that but Commissar Comrade Obama is in the same book as Bobby Woodward; just on different pages..
