Hudak conflated martial arts with firearm defense without realizing that one of these tactics requires close contact with an attacker, a physical deflection. Hudak’s prejudiced characterization of women and firearms is reminiscent of Colorado Rep. Joe Salazar’s sexist remark that women were simply too hysterical to own firearms.

Hudak’s argument that a woman could be disarmed and her firearm used on her flies in the face of FBI crime statistics and presupposes that the woman won’t fire and/or is incapable of properly using a firearm. See, Amanda Collins was overpowered, disarmed, and left to be a victim. By Nevada lawmakers. Not her rapist. Just what Hudak said would happen, though not exactly.
Quite a dangerous thing to disarm women and create more rape victims based on a dangerous, baseless assumption.

Statistics mean nothing when they happen to you.
Sadly, there are far too many women that believe they can just kick a guy in the nuts. One girl (friend) actually thought she could “kick my ass”, so I gave her the opportunity - just a friendly fight. It took me about 2 seconds to completely over power her and tie her down, no ability to move. I could see she was a little disturbed, she really didn’t know the difference in strength.
I cringed when seeing a drunk freshman (hot) girl surrounded by “10 guys with beers”...most guys are ok but it only takes one, or a bad group. The TV is also responsible for this overestimation of capability, there’s a dozen shows that depict a female that’s unstoppable, where no man can beat her.
There comes a point where debate must end and free people must go about exercising their liberties without any discussion of whether it is “permitted”, as though those from whom permission is sought are somehow anything other than mere fallible human beings.
We spend far too much time getting tied up in knots arguing with idiots who don’t care what we think. We concede, comply and cooperate far too much when it is not necessary and not in our best fair interests.
You are far better prepared than most women would be if attacked, but you are right, martial rights is not an equalizer. A gun gives a woman a much better chance of walking away unharmed.

I carry the Blast Knuckles (think brass knuckle configuration with rubber coating) in my pocket whenever the wife and I go out. While I would prefer to have tazer for distance, they are bulky and not as quick on the draw. Simply pull the Blast Knuckle out of your pocket while wrapping your fingers into the finger holes, switch the safety off with your thumb and pull the button next to your index finger to zap the bad guy to the floor. And no, the voltage does not transfer to you if he has a hold of you. The best thing about them is they would be all most impossible to wrestle out of your hand grip.
Of course, I would really rather carry a concealed Taurus Judge or similar, but living in California, good luck getting a CCW permit. The above products at Best Stun Gun offer alternatives to being completely defenseless. And since they are legal in California, pretty sure they would be legal in most States if not all.

Add to that an evil dude high on bath salts, PCP etc. and you may be dealing with a walking zombie with a high pain tolerance level. Not favorable for any female no matter where her martial arts skill level may be.
BTW Kudos to you for being trained to defend yourself physically. Your instincts, the way you walk, carry yourself and take notice of your environment is more than half the battle in not becoming a potential victim.
Women always need to be aware of their surroundings and disallow for distractions such as cell phones, searching for keys in purses, etc. when out and about.

I did the same with an ex GF. She worked corrections so thought she was bad ass. Everytime we went at it I always won. She was not small either and worked out every day.

What the liberals and anti-gunners don't realize is that for decades they have been enjoying herd immunity. As the laws they pass make it more difficult for the average person to defend themselves, the disincentive for common criminals to simply attack and loot people at random will fade.
The liberals (if successful) will (and already have) become the victims of their own laws, without realizing their well-defended neighbors were their first line of defense against miscreants and violent criminals.
Like children, they do not realize the actions of others are for their own good.

Below is our California in home self-defense protocol at night when most invasions occur:
1. Once we're alerted to intruders, we quietly roll out of bed and onto the floor. As I grap my 870 under the bed, the wife calls 911.
The wife softly says, "We have intruders in our home and we are in fear for our lives. Please send help". She then leaves the phone line open and locks herself in the toilet closet or other lockable place. Remember, 911 can find your address immediately if you leave the line open, so no need to say more.
2. I crouch low in a ready position pointing at the bedroom door. If they attempt entrance to the bedroom, I simply yell out, "Take what you will, but the police are on the way. If you try to come in I will shoot to defend our lives". The more times the 911 operator hears that, the more defense you have at a later time.
3. If they're not about stealing crap and burst through the door, I turn on my blinding light on the barrel to identify and only then fire. BTW, unlike most who recommend upper center mass, I will be aiming at lower center mass to take out their crotch and partially legs. That way, I'm assured their possible body armor will be worthless, not mention destroying their genitals and and legs and possibly hitting a thigh artery. Think about that and tell me if I'm wrong.
4. My 870 shogun is loaded with game shot first so as to show authorities I didn't want to kill, but just stop, and it does according to videos I'm seen on the Web. From much research, game shot can take a man down at close range. If that doesn't work, next up is 00 buck. Thinking of #4 buck for less wall penetration, but can't find it nowadays.
5. No, I won't ratchet my 870 in hoping they go away because of the sound (that's a stupid movie fallacy). It will be loaded and only need to turn off the safety (red is dead).
6. Once the police arrive, and if I'm not covering a wounded intruder, I will have already layed my weapons on the ground and do everything I can to not disturb the crime scene. Providing the circumstances, I will have opened the front door and turn on every light in and out of the house.
7. Once the threat is resolved will I only give my wife the code word for her to leave her safe places.
I'm not much worried about daytime invasions since there are a lot of dogs around here to alert our neighborhood. Plus, I'm retired and mostly always home. I see some zombie punks sniffing around my backyard or front door, there is another surprise for them downstairs if they attempt to enter. Notice I say enter. Here in Cali, the laws don't allow us to shoot someone outside our home, unless we're outside in our backyard and they come a blazin. That is even iffy.
Again, ALWAYS call 911 (if have the chance) and tell them you are in fear for your lives. It is the best protection against criminal prosecution and civil suits. And if possible, never shoot someone in the back even in your own home at least in Socialist Republic of California, as much as you would like to. That's a criminal prosecution in the waiting in California and other Blue States. Your County/State mileage may vary.
One good thing that did come out of my taking martial arts: I began to carry myself much more confidently and the street harassment directed my way dropped.
