Units can track individuals by cell phones, identify by guns, put in bull's-eye
A reporter from ABC News recently speculated that drones could become such a routine part of life in the United States that they would be the tool of choice to find lost dogs or cats.
Finding pets is not what’s worrying civil rights advocates and others who are paying attention to just what is being done now with drones.
They are alarmed by the idea that a drone could track you through your cell phone, identify you by the handgun you have in your pocket, pepper you with rubber bullets to intimidate you or just blast you off the face of the Earth with live ammunition.
It is for these reasons that Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and several others today staged a filibuster in the U.S. Senate against the nomination by Barack Obama of John Brennan, his national security adviser, to be director of the CIA.
It is under Brennan’s watch that Obama’s use of drones has mushroomed overseas, and individuals, including American citizens, have had a bull’s-eye painted on their back. Multitudes have been killed through the program.
Now, a part of the impetus for Paul’s filibuster was that Attorney General Eric Holder wrote under the Obama drone strategy it is not impossible that a drone attack would be ordered on a U.S. citizen on American soil.
On the Senate floor, Paul said, “If our country is a battlefield, if our country is a war zone, what is left? What are we fighting for it we are not going to fight for our rights at home?”

During those regimes, one could perhaps escape and hide in the woods or other such places but with these drones being able to track people and drop ordinance while you are sitting in your car having a Starbucks or Big Mac, people are at the mercy of keeping Obama placated.
Imagine how Saddam would have given up his wives, sons, and mistresses for merely one day with a drone at his beck and call.
Go back and watch the Tom Clancy novel-turned-movie, "Clear and Present Danger," how a bomb is dropped in a Colombian drug lord's lawn party.
Now imagine yourself entertaining a bunch of kids in the backyard for a birthday party with their friends when Obama decides he's sick and tired of reading your trashing him all over FreeRepublic, one day and decides to put an end to your insurrection.

Drones crash and drones and normal air traffic don’t mix very well. It is bad enough having police helicopters flying over your neighborhood, but having a aircraft with no pilot..subject to uncontrolled failures..it just isn’t safe.
I wonder if anyone out there is attempting to invade and interrupt the command structure of these electronic devices. I find it difficult to imagine that that isn’t happening.
I don't think 'safety' is on their list of concerns.

Hacking and signal hijacking happens all the time, having an armed drone already in the U.S. makes it that much easier for a would be attacker to briefly take control of the weapon and carry out his or her deed before the military could either destroy or retake the weapon.
I don't believe the technology should be allowed to fly in American airspace for this reason. If they are to be used overseas they should be armed overseas, and disarmed before getting within an hour of American soil.
With a drown you can not only shoot them down, you can jam their signal, and even attempt to high-jack them.
The last of those possibilities is probably the #1 reason they should not be allowed to fly armed in American airspace.
The technology is too new and this is believe it or not the golden age of hacking. Frankly we don’t have the historical experience to deal with such a threat.

There is no way in hell that anything on this earth (other than to actually write down and trace a gun’s serial number to the original buyer before background checks and purchase information went through the government. Furthermore, nothing can identify and link a gun to you while it is in your pocket.......period!
This is “chicken little” hype and scare tactics....period.
The threat of drones and their attack upon our privacy and Constitutional rights however, is real and I can see that Obama’s army (FEMA and Homeland Security) will use it as a real terrorist weapon to control the masses.
We’re currently living in a police state courtesy of UBL and reactionary control freaks.
No one is complaining about the birds which are too expensive to deploy and operate in comparison to drones. The prob with drones, however, is weaponry and the lower privacy/privilege threshold required to operate.
Somebody was telling me on another thread the drone in that picture flies five miles high. Can a prop plane really do that? Are there specs that aren’t classified?
A Predator can fly about 9 miles up. It’s a turbo prop which is a small turbine engine attached to a reduction gear to spin the prop.
I guess if I can’t hit it with a goose gun, it can’t hit me with rubber bullets.
