There’s always the hope that work will set us free. It said so when we came in.
And presumably their justification for this is a desire to keep us safe. It reminds me of the same bogus reasons they advance for gun-grabbing.
Reminding me further of two things: in the movie ‘The Godfather’ ‘Michael Corleone’ being advised of a location for a meeting with Barzini where he “would be safe,” and Ben Franklin on security and liberty.
“work will set us free...”
As in Arbeit Macht Frei. My Dad passed under those words at Dachau, where he was posted to guard the German guards, after the camp was liberated.
