Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer called Sen. Rand Paul's (R-Ky.) filibuster of the John Brennan nomination for CIA director Wednesday a "stroke of political genius."
Appearing on Fox News's Special Report, Krauthammer also said, "This will be a moment that people will say has launched him as a national figure."
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Stroke of political genius. He will be remembered. This raises his image, and hes completely sincere about this. This will be a moment that people will say has launched him as a national figure.

It's way overdue to overtly attack this evil, unconstitutional and anti-American administration.
What is the best way to give Sen. Paul, Cruz, etc. a “Standing O”?
“What is the best way to give Sen. Paul, Cruz, etc. a Standing O?”
I intend to call my senators and demand they vote on his resolution. That is my way of giving a standing O.
Sen. Paul’s filibuster shows at least a few Republicans have spines and are willing to defend the Constitution. This drone issue is major. Eric Holder’s wishy-washy explanation of whether Obama would have the Constitutional authority to take out US citizens on US soil pretty much trashes the absolute Constitutional rights of fair trial, the assumption of innocence until proven guilty and judicial process. The drones also raise the issue of privacy. It is ironic that the administration whose staunch support of abortion is based on privacy would have no problem sending its drones to spy on its citizens, listen to their conversations, snoop in their houses, spy on their private property and monitor if they are carrying firearms.
He said that at the end of the Roundtable...and it referred to the political optics only. As for the actual filibuster Kraut said it was silly...it’s not like they’re actually gonna kill anybody. It will never happen so why worry about it...let’s get both side together and write a policy. No kidding...I was pretty amazed at how sanguine he was about the whole thing.
Poor Marco. He seems so 2011.
That's not his point.
The government has killed American citizens on American soil in the past and will likely do so again.
His point is that a drone strike is a logistically ridiculous, in fact a nonsensical, way to go about doing it.
I agree with Kraut on his summary opion but for a different reason.
The past filibuster rules allowed RINOs to avoid ^detailing^ their reasons for not approving the nominee.
Pinheads like McCain could just say, “I don’t think he is qualified for the postiion. I invoke the filibuster rule.” Thus, without being seen as “mean, critical and possibly racist”, he holds up the nominee.
RP actually put his negative opinions on the record.
But the true point isn't whether or not it's logistically feasible to kill an American citizen with an armed drone while sitting at a Starbucks...the problem is the legal opinion issued by Justice that says the President has the power ot order the murder of any American at any time without benefit of trial. Obama's claiming this power and the justice department is backing him up.
And I believe Rand Paul understands this completely. He's using farce to make THIS POINT ...
Good grief. These are the same friggin' people that demanded due process and US trials for enemy combatants in Gitmo and wet their pants over waterboarding!!!
If Odumba thinks an American is so dangerous, then why didn”t he bring him/her and use WATERBOARDING?
Gotta use a drone next time!
Even more so when the chief government official has to keep reminding people that he's not a dictator (although he wishes he were).
This should result in impeachment articles being drawn for gross violation of his Oath of Office and those articles being voted upon immediately. Take it to trial and get let the senators' votes hang themselves by voting against the Constitution-- figuratively, of course.

Or one who tells LaRaza (as they demand he ignore law and reward their illegal constituents) that he wishes he could "run around Congress".
I don’t always agree with Paul or Cruz 100%, but unlike lots of Washington ‘Pubbies, these guys understand what it means to fight for your convictions. I would vote for a Cruz/Paul ticket in a heartbeat. (——ooops, Cruz wasn’t born in the US, but then, to quote Madam Clinton, “what difference does it make?”)
Krauthammer is an overpaid Master of the Obvious. You could replace him with any random FReeper and get insights just as good or better. When he looks in the mirror he sees fake.
That's pretty short sighted thinking by Krauthammer. If one cedes this point, then one says it is in effect ok for the President to deem someone guilty without trial, evidence, hearing, review, or even informing the person of the alleged crime, and then summarily kill them. The means of killing; by drone, shooting, guillotine, is irrelevant. The President is seizing the same power as the old Roman Emperors; doing what he wants, when he wants, to whoever he wants. And much like the old Roman Senate, the US Senate largely sits there like a bunch of obsequious old fools (yes I mean you McCain).
