Graham, McCain blast Paul filibuster
The Washington Times ^ | March 7, 2013, 11:51AM | Stephen Dinan

Sen. Rand Paul’s filibuster didn’t thrill all of his colleagues.

Almost exactly 24 hours after the Kentucky freshman began his information-seeking filibuster against CIA nominee John O. Brennan, fellow Republican Sens. John McCain and Lindsey Graham took to the Senate floor to denounce his demands and say he was doing a “disservice” to the debate on drones.

“I don’t think what happened yesterday was helpful to the American people,” said Mr. McCain, Republicans’ presidential nominee in 2008 — who topped Mr. Paul’s father, former Rep. Ron Paul, in that year’s primary.

And where even Democrats praised Mr. Paul for using Senate rules properly to launch a filibuster, Mr. McCain said it was an abuse of rules that could hurt the GOP in the long run.

“What we saw yesterday is going to give ammunition to those who say the rules of the Senate are being abused,” the Arizona Republican said.

Mr. Paul said he was filibustering to get the administration to affirm it won’t kill non-combatant Americans in the U.S. — but Mr. Graham and Mr. McCain said that was a ludicrous question.

“I do not believe that question deserves an answer,” Mr. Graham said.

Here is a McCain quote:

“The country needs more senators who care about liberty, but if Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids in their college dorms. He needs to know what he’s talking about,”

Well A-Hole McCain, Rand Paul DOES do a lot more than the filibuster. And what’s wrong with appealing to conservative or libertarian young people???

McCain and Graham are allergic to confrontation and perfectly happy being prominent members of the minority.

There is an interesting article on drudge about how the WH has enforced total silence from gun control lobbyists in exchange for access. Contrast that to tweedle dee and tweedle dumb having tantrums about their fellow Republican! Unbelievable even for the Stupid Party.

McLame is nuts, a traitor, a RINO and a tool for the left. He makes no sense and will not admit that the Conservatives are the way to go, and NOT with the old bulls of the Republican Party. He refuses to join forces with the Conservatives..he wants to keep HIS power base..he rides on his military service record to garner respect and support. With all due respect to the Senator, he's not the only soldier who sacrificed during his military service.

Time for McLame and the flip-flopper Lindsey to give it up..and if not, it is up to the voters to kick them out.

Crazy...why weren't the critical of DOJ and Obama for dancing around wording. Especially with their pattern of evasiveness on fast and furious and Benghazi.

Senators that stood with Senator Paul:

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Pat Toomey (R-Penn.), John Thune (R-S.D.), John Barrasso (R-Wy.), Tim Scott (R-S.C.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.).

The rest didn’t. That’s pretty much all I need to know.

Can you circle two wagons?

It's called a circle jerk, and with Lindsay showing Juan a dutch rudder.

Curious that they didn't have any harsh words for obungo.

they have dinner with a man , [is he really a man] who has attacked and lied about them but Paul stands for the constitution and the law and they say he;s wrong.

You can;t even make this up .

The two and other DC beltway power trippers see their power being threatened and it;s no coincidence that the meal was timed exactly at the same time Paul was standing for the rule of law

John McCain and Lindsey Graham

WHY is it always these two?

Maybe McCain doesn't know drones were used to look for that killer cop in Los Angeles. Rand Paul's filibuster was a seminal moment in the necessary debate on how our gov't is going to use drones against the American People.

Obama has seized upon authority he would never have countenanced for his predecessor.

Will the people of SC unite behind a single candidate to defeat Graham in the primary next year and have a third party candidate ready to oppose him in general election if Lindsey wins the primary?

No more votes for RINO’s in any election.

Rush Limbaugh had it right today in that McCain’s argument about raising citizens’ ire over “abusing rules of the Senate” being raised was just plain stupid.

Does he think that Americans loose sleep over abuse of Senate rules, this silly silly man? Thank God he got on the ball wasting so much political capital on that campaign finance reform stupidity that was also something Americans got all worried about....thank God for John McCain.

And Graham’s rhetorical question about just why Bush Dubya wasn’t given grief over drones I will ask Lindsay....

RAND PAUL, TED CRUZE...et al....were not in the Senate during much of the Bush term. Only you old fart elected guys and we know what y’all think is important now don’t we?

THE SENATE RULES!!!

Heh.

This is the funeral button for Graham/McCain....they just look stupid on this one.

A lot of those guys showed up because their political futures may count on being seen with Rand Paul, even though they have no convictions.

It will be interesting to see if Paul supports McConnell for re-election in 2014.

I wouldn’t but the game of politics works differently.

If I was to see Lindsey Graham. I’d tell him to kiss my ass if I didn’t think he’d get excited at the prospect.
