>>You can make up enough pancakes and sausage on Sunday morning in no time at all, roll them up and freeze them and then the kids can heat one up in the microwave and have a pancake and sausage every morning.<<

Sadly GA, this would imply that they had the ingredients to do so..........when all the household money is used to buy crack.

God save us.

The minute you sign up for breakfast options....you have to forecast a chunk of money for decades. The truth is....probably two-thirds of all kids do have an opportunity to eat breakfast, but probably half of them turn it down because they don’t want bacon, eggs, or waffles...which might be the only stuff that mom or dad cook for breakfast. As a kid in the 1970s....there just weren’t any choices....you ate and were satisfied.

Now, if you wanted to do this simple....then get the oatmeal folks to make mini-containers of their stuff...with 200 calories of oatmeal (flavored of course), and a half-apple. That’s more than enough, and would fill a kid up. Course, out of a hundred kids...probably only fifteen of them would accept something like this. So we go back to the point of kids refusing food because they’d like something better.

"I'd like to hear the reason why those schools don't have a breakfast program," Malloy said.

As I remember CT has population that is fairly well off.

Maybe these kids’ parents are wealthy enough to feed them at home or get them breakfast at a restaurant on the way to school. Why have school breakfast program that serves few or no kids.

That used to be the case. CT used to have the highest per capita income......sadly, now we are the most taxed, lowest performing state, high unemployment, with kids on the lowest level of education performance.

EG: http://www.handsonhartford.org/Issues_Poverty

We have a colossal 33.5% poverty rate in the city of Hartford, making it the second poorest city in the United States..yada, yada.

If the kiddos are getting fed 3 meals a day at school, WHERE is the SNAP and EBT money going?

Isn't that supposed to feed the family?

I went to school in a middle/upper-middle class town in CT. Graduated in the early 2000s. It probably wasn’t considered a “breakfast” by the state, but since the workers had to be their early to get ready for lunch they served bagels with assorted toppings, mini-cereal boxes, fruits and milk. The school didn’t have a scheduled “breakfast” period but before classes or if upper class men study hall was in the cafeteria and you could get food.
