In Louisiana, a conservative backlash against gun control

(Reuters) - In the gun-friendly state of Louisiana, the backlash against President Barack Obama's proposed restrictions on firearms seems to be everywhere.

It can be seen in the frenzied sales and empty racks at Jim's Firearms store in the state capital, Baton Rouge, where customers have rushed to make purchases as Congress weighs several gun-control bills.

It is evident in the state Legislature, where a series of bills aimed at protecting gun owners' rights have been introduced as a counter-punch to Obama's push in Washington.

It is abundantly clear in the sea of hands that pop up when a congressman asks an overflow crowd in Baton Rouge how many are worried about their constitutional right to bear arms being threatened.

And yet, they elected Landrieu. Conservatives are a majority, if the Republicans can overcome the propaganda from the MSM.

The name "Landrieu" is somewhat magical in Louisiana, representing a powerful political dynasty centered in and around New Orleans. But I suspect that she will get the "bum's rush" in her next run.

The last person in the world that I thought would buy a gun is my daughter who lives in Lafayette—but she told me last week that she had done just that!

She called to ask where she could get some ammo for it! That question, I couldn’t answer.

Its becoming more and more obvious that these clowns have been waiting for the opportunity that they think obama has brought them. I think that they are now realizing that their liberal, socialist utopia is not what Americans want.

I know he got 50% plus in the election, but I have a very hard time accepting that result as legitimate.

People are somewhere in the middle and are finally getting a glimpse of what these folks are all about. I mean Feinstein saying that PTSD is a new phenomena as a result of the fighting in Iraq and therefore, no vets should have guns. Nice one.

Are conservatives outside New Orleans really voting for her? It just seems odd.

I wouldn't worry about the conservatives outside New Orleans voting for her as much as the DemocRATs outside Louisiana who will be voting for her.

Democrats lost big time in 1994 after passing gun control laws - maybe history will repeat itself
