Reid Statement On February Employment Report
United States Senate Democrats ^ | 3/8/2013 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 03/08/2013 12:56:27 PM PST by mdittmar

Washington, DCNevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on the February employment report. According to the Labor Department, the economy added 236,000 jobs in February and the unemployment rate fell to 7.7 percent, the lowest since 2008:

“Today’s numbers show that our economy is growing, and is poised to grow even faster in the months to come. There is still much work to be done to bring unemployment down in Nevada and across the nation. The first step is to replace the sequester with a balanced combination of smart spending cuts and policies that close wasteful tax loopholes and ask millionaires to pay their fair share. But this can only be done with cooperation from my Republican colleagues.

“The American people expect solutions from their elected officials. It is up to Congress to provide them with the solutions they deserve.”

Could it be that these numbers are fudged so the regime can blame sequester and republicans for killing economic growth over the next few months? I don’t buy these numbers at all.

As is so often the case, there are a lot of details that are not so convenient for Obama and the Democrats that are not being mentioned by Harry Reid, or by the Democratic Party’s willing whores and bootlickers in the news media.

“Labor force participation” is the percentage of population ages 18-64 who are either working, or looking for work. This was steadily climbing from the Korean War until late in Clinton’s second term, as more and more women and teens joined the labor force. It’s perhaps the only statistic that isn’t being adjusted or fudged in one way or another by the Department of Labor.

It leveled off sometime around 1999, and it’s been dropping like an express elevator ever since Obama was elected. With that happening, it’s a lot easier to make a jobs report look rosy when it really isn’t.

Another little inconvenient detail that neither Harry Reid nor the Democratic Party’s whores in the news media will mention is the percentage of these jobs that are part-time. Most people would like to work full-time. Sadly, in order to do that, you now need two part-time jobs. And you still won’t make a living, because the growth in median income and the average hourly wage (after adjusting for inflation) haven’t been setting the world on fire lately.

So in other words, the last time the unemployment rate got this low was back when Bush was in office.

You can tell how big a lie these numbers are by how loudly the Bolshies crow about them.

Yes, the rate was this low last when Bush was in office and before the Demoncrats took over Congress. The Feds have juiced the unemployment numbers as well as the soaring stock market, all in order to make their man-child look good. The only legitimate employment figures that are descriptive of the economy are workforce numbers, and those don’t look so good.
