I am in the Brookings area but I travel to Rapid about every 3 months to do maintenance work. I would enjoy a good meal and good conversation.

Speaking of that very issue, I am in conversation with a Freeper that summers in Deadwood, who would love to get together for an impromptue or otherwise meet up. Contacted our southern hills contingent at the ranch, but as yet have not found the time or opportunity for you and dakotagator, and it seems you may have discovered via this thread, a few other possibilities.

Hope you are enjoying the winter in AZ while we are enjoying the best winter yet that a banana belt can provide. The real problem might be the lack of moisture in our drought ridden state. When you return I might suggest attendence at a “wing nuts” lunch held weekly on Tuesday 11:30am at the Eagles Club in Rapid City.

The unorganized group of Conservatives, led by former state Representative and Senator Bill Napoli and his wife Peggy, has grown to a size that will soon exceed the room we use. Often there is a scheduled speaker and if not the rest of us speak to the issues of the day. Believe it or not there is never a lack of subject matter. Average age of attendees seasoned and mature.

See #23 and freepmail me. I’m guessing some time in May/June for a scheduled meet.

supporters of the National Rifle Association who argue that more guns keep people safer.

How about supporters of the Constitution of the United States of America who argue the Second Amendment has been saying so for at least 230 plus years.

You aren’t the only one, but credit for being first, sent from AZ.

Humans are frail and unpredictable. You can NEVER “prevent these kinds of events”, period. Wait a few years, and you’ll see that either an armed teacher, or a kid who stole the teacher’s firearm, will use that weapon to do “another Sandyhook”... and the Libs will scream again for “someone to do something to prevent this”. In the end, government and law enforcement can only be reactive, and almost never pro-active. Encouraging them to coerce this, forbid that, and mandate the other simply denies the vast majority of us our freedoms. At some point, one must accept the fact that bad things happen. We waste so much time and energy and money/resources chasing this nonsense of eliminating all bad acts before they can even occur. It’s just as sad, if not more so, than the tragedies and atrocities themselves.
