Actually, I'm pretty much in favor of trying to find ways to get people to eat healthier. There are a lot of benefits for society, and for individuals, from eating healthy food instead of junk, such as lower medical bills. For taxpayers, that could mean less money spent on stuff like Medicaid.
We probably shouldn't be subsidizing any farmers. But if we can't stop the farm-subsidy gravy train, why not shift the subsidies to the ones that grow vegetables and fruits? Or give them tax breaks, or something.
Part of the reason why people don't buy healthy food is that it's more expensive than the junk.
corn syrup is the enemy
corn is a veggie
regular sugar is much healthier than corn syrup but the government makes sugar in the US artificially expensive
stupid government tricks
then gee, why not stop taking food stamps for junk food?
hmm, because of riots maybe
an awful lot of us have seen that abuse occurring
they want ways to make kids and the poor healthy then stop letting food stamps allow crap food, it shoudl only be veggies and fruit, and cereal.
As an African guy told me once.”the poor in my country are thin because they can;t buy their food but in America the poor are fatter than the rich”
that sums it up
