Flagstaff has all the seasons. The rest have four, but they are Broil, Bake, BBQ and Please God kill me now ;)
The Green groups partnered with the Adirondack Park Agency to make most new businesses impossible in the Blue Line (anything above Albany/Syracuse really) and destroyed the traditional business that was up there. Look up the logging industry and what they did to Skiing/snowmobiling.
The Agenda 21 thing is in full effect there. It’s heaven to look at but hell to live in. There is a reason my hometown is about half the population it was when I was born. And I literally curse the bastards daily for what they did to it.
McQueeg would be better off retiring like this fish (another angry bird pic)......
BTW, Maricopa is about 110 in the summer. It’s average for AZ. My area, Havasu/Bullhead City is 120 and up...usually up.
Flagstaff gets the white stuff in quantity and had 70-90deg summers.
Winter everywhere else is 40-60 and windy (Oct through March)
Flagstaff is Liberal by AZ standards but rabid right wing by NY standards.
There is still an old west mentality here, but it’s going away as more. Even in my time here the change is considerable. But it’s still worlds better than NY in all categories.
Great, way too hot for me. Damn, I wanted to be in Sheriff Joe’s county.
I don’t want any liberal counties. Even though it may be considered “rabid right wing” by us NE standards, they would NOT equal mine.
I am an outsider here in NY. I’m pretty sure if I moved to a red county, I’d probably be more conservative than they are....no joke.
I’d probably be the “crazy right winger” they all talk about, lol.
It’s not so bad. You just prepare for it by sticking your head in an oven. And if you think I’m kidding, take a vacation out here in August, roll down your window at 80mph and stick your head out.
Same feeling ;)
There’s lots of right wing in Flag. Some fairly hardcore dudes by any standard. Believe me. Instead of 95 in 100 libs, you’d have 10 in 100. And 5 of those aren’t really as lib as they think they are.
Kidding aside, it does take getting used to. The heat keeps a lot of people out, for good and bad. And summers ARE spent either indoors or in transit to indoors...with the air cranked...and it’s STILL an oven going from car to store that makes you want to just call for take-out.
Heat makes me even crankier than I usually am, lol. Hot is NOT good for me.
I just want to be happy in a conservative town, suburban of course, with some kind of seasonal changes.
BAH!! Wimp! Whassa matter? A little 130 degree weather make you melt? (Well OK it makes Arizonans melt too...) BUT THATS BESIDES THE POINT!!!
A REAL conservative laughs in the face of solar furnaces! Mere bumps in the road to happiness!
Harumph! (Note, this blather is being spouted from my March/spring air conditioned comfort...rather than after 5 min outside in August) ;)
Ahhhh, ac, my bff in the summer! I also have to consider my antique mahogany furniture, which tends to grow mold if it's not cool enough.
I found that out 1 summer when I thought I'd go w/out ac. WRONG move!
Mold cannot live in AZ ;) It FEARS AZ...you furniture would be drier, sure...but it would quickly petrify and thus last forever. We have a whole forest filled with the stuff!
;)
Is it because of that dry heat I’ve heard about? We have extremely humid heat here.....not good for my antiques!
WACKO BIRDS ARE GO!
I’m a Waco Eagle.....as in Waco Texas.
