I was not there so I can’t read their minds. However, I believe the bottom line would be PATRIOTISM and LOYALTY to country.
Being born in America of American parents does not guarantee that you will grow up to love America ( see John Walker Lindh for example ).
On the other hand, there are people born overseas who grwo up in America and REALLY LOVE America and will die for this country.
If I were to take a guess, I’d say the framers would favor the latter.
You don’t have to be there to read their minds, you can read their minds when you read the words “natural born citizen”.
They didn’t fight a war to turn the US back over to the King of England or the King of any other country simply because of their birth.
If you believe the FF were that stupid you are a 100% nut case.
