I didn't ask if Winston Churchill would be a U.S. citizen at birth if he were born today.

The law was different back then as to being a U.S. citizen at birth and paternity was deemed more important than maternity.

Churchill was given honorary U.S. citizenship during his lifetime. He was not a U.S. citizen at birth. He was also never a U.S. resident - let alone for the required 14 years.

No, Winston Churchill was not a U.S. citizen at birth.

His mother, upon marrying a British subject, became a British subject herself.
