The chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus said she is concerned that President Obama has not yet appointed African-Americans to his second-term Cabinet.
Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) said Obama's appointees do not reflect the nation's diverse population at least, so far.
I am concerned that you have moved forward with new cabinet appointments and yet, to date, none of them have been African American, her letter to Obama states. You have publicly expressed your commitment to retaining diversity within your cabinet. However, the people you have chosen to appoint in this new term have hardly been reflective of this countrys diversity.
Fudge said in the letter that the CBC had recommended a number of qualified candidates that the administration has passed over for various positions.
Congressional Black Caucus offices have had numerous phone calls from constituents questioning why none of the new appointees will be able to speak to the unique needs of African Americans, Fudge continued. Their ire is compounded by the overwhelming support youve received from the African American community. As you continue choosing your critical advisors, we want to stress the importance of ensuring every community has a seat at the table. The absence of diverse voices leads to policies and programs that adversely impact African Americans.
Attorney General Eric Holder, appointed in Obamas first term, remains the Obama administrations only black Cabinet-level appointee. According to a Politics365 analysis released last week, thats the fewest by any president over the last 38 years.
Earlier this year, the White House faced scrutiny over an alleged lack of diversity among Obamas inner circle. Those questions have intensified with Obamas senior-most Cabinet nominations, including former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.) for Defense secretary, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) for secretary of State and Chief of Staff Jack Lew for Treasury secretary.
Those nominations have come amid a number of high-profile second-term exits of female Cabinet members, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis.
Senior Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett had predicted more minorities and women would be tapped for positions in the presidents Cabinet.
How many whites has the CBC named to their “cabinet?”
Her name is Fudge?
damn...thats rough.
How many Muzzies has he appointed though?
Ah, yes. St. Martin Luther King, Jr., would have been proud . . . judge a man by his character rather than his skin color . . . we've come a long, long way.
We don't give a rat's a$$ what's in his brain . . . just the color of his skin . . . that's how we got Obambozo, an illegal Kenyan alien; Kwame Kilpatrick, a filthy convicted felon; and Rev. Sharpton, each held high in the "black" community, mainly because they're black and for no other logical reason.
There is no shame in the "black" movement.
John Brennan
Then I urge him to appoint several conservatives.
Bump!
Former Congressman Alan West is probably available and would be 10,000 times better than any cabinet appointment Obama would prefer regardless of ethnicity, alas but Obama would probably rather pass a bowel movement of broken glass than higher someone with the high character of West.
hirer
Racist nose counting and demographic parity - that will solve our problems.
Let’s do it in the NBA and NFL too.
And on MTV and VH-1.
And what about BET-TV?
A Black woman named ‘Fudge’?
Oh, dear.
Being half White and half Black, Obama is an equal-opportunity hater; he’d be happiest if he could dispense with a cabinet - and a congress and a Supreme Court - and rule America as its King.
Welcome to Lame Duck, sweetheart.
obama thinks they are lazy like he says he is.
His white half is a racist.
so what? it’s racist to say that. seriously, she’s freaking racist.
who made her queen of the quota list? is she such a racist that non-blacks can’t do the jobs required? i am so sick of black racism.
Is he talking about blacks, or qualified blacks?
your racism shows that you’d ask that. “qualified” is a racist term when put in front of “black”, don’t ya know.....at least racist blacks like Fudgie here would say that.
Awwww. I just feel sooo bad. I guess Obama found enough whites who detest the Constitution, he doesn’t need any more blacks on staff.
