New Pope: No Communion for Pro-Abortion Politicians
breitbart.com ^ | March 13 2013 | staff

New Pope Francis I is a conservative in the mold of his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II. That’s especially true on the issue of abortion, which he called a “death sentence” for the unborn in 2007. “We aren’t in agreement with the death penalty,” he said during that speech, “but in Argentina we have the death penalty. A child conceived by the rape of a mentally ill or retarded woman can be condemned to death.”

In his writings, Francis wrote, “we should commit ourselves to ‘eucharistic coherence,’ that is, we should be conscious that people cannot receive holy communion and at the same time act or speak against the commandments, in particular when abortions, euthanasia, and other serious crimes against life and family are facilitated. This responsibility applies particularly to legislators, governors, and health professionals.”

Francis is also anti-euthanasia: “Today,” he wrote, “elderly people are discarded when, in reality, they are the seat of wisdom of the society. The right to life means allowing people to live and not killing, allowing them to grow, to eat, to be educated, to be healed, and to be permitted to die with dignity.”

This is great news for every Catholic conservative. Conversely, he will now be savaged relentlessly by the main stream media who will not stand for this. I think the Cardinals have made a wise choice based upon initial impressions.

“Can a pro-abortion “catholic” just go to confession before mass and “get right” long enough to take communion, and then go about their baby killing afterward?”

In a practical sense of course they can go through the motions, but they will not (as I understand it) be receiving the Sacrament. Quite the opposite, they will be committing a mortal sin in doing so.

So from a strict Catholic sense, No...

****

No — not if you want to go back the next Sunday and take communion.

The left has been trying to get to our children for decades, they used colleges, now they are so desperate they use K schools, TV, media, magazines, radio, any way they can to get to the kids, hell even clothes have been made for their agenda.

Parents , all of us have to watch and prepare our children for this nasty world and tell them at a young age the dangers of the elft nad what the left wll try and do and what kind of key words, language they use.

No. They are not the same. Denying communion can be done by any priest. Excommunication has to be done by the Pope I believe, often recommended by a cardinal. Excommunication is a statement of rejection by the Pope. He declares you as ‘shut out’ from the church. I hope Piglosi and Biden are excommunication.

"The priest may forgive or retain sins."

Priests cannot forgive sins. Only God does.

I watched it on my dinky little 55” screen. The tears were rolling down my cheeks and I thought my chest would explode from pride. I had never been so proud to be a son of Holy Mother Church.

I think church discipline is lacking in all the denominations, largely because people have bought into the post-modern worldview that we make our own reality and determine for ourselves what is right and wrong.

The tax-exempt status has also been used to quiet Christians in the pulpits. Jeremiah Wright and his ilk can talk politics all they want because they know that nobody would have the guts to take away the tax-exempt status of their “church”. But if somebody actually preaches the BIBLE and applies it to the left-hand kingdom (secular government), they would be targeted. So they separate Christianity from public policy and the determinations of what makes for peaceful coexistence and prosperity.

My husband is a Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod pastor. We’re in a liberal place (unbelievable that this place in Nebraska is more liberal than where we had been previously in Minnesota!) Shortly before the 2008 election I mentioned in Bible study that Satan is a liar, and uses lies in ALL realms of life in order to try to undo what God has said. For instance, communism is a denial of the right of ownership (the seventh commandment, as Lutherans number the commandments). Abortion is a denial of the sanctity of human life (the fifth commandment). Homosexual marriage is a denial of the sanctity of marriage (sixth commandment). Etc. We have the “separation of church and state” and think that the church can’t say anything about politics, but Satan through “politics” and by our supposed inability to touch “politics” is snuffing out the ten commandments and the authority of God to be Lord over these issues, in the minds of LOTS of people who call themselves “Christians” but don’t even recognize that what they believe follows the god of politics and NOT the God of the Bible.

Two of the members said we shouldn’t be talking about this in church and walked out in a huff. The next week the leader said we won’t talk about “politics”. Totally missed the point. God doesn’t back off of a subject just because WE call it “politics” and label it “untouchable”. And Satan doesn’t back off of a subject just because WE call it “church”. If God is not welcome in the discussion of “redistribution of wealth”, abortion, homosexual marriage, etc, then it is WE who are moving away from Him, and it doesn’t matter what excuse we use in order to do it. But in the church there is no excuse for it. We must obey God, not men.
