Media bias in press report of Mark Kelly’s rifle purchase

When is an “assault rifle” not an “assault rifle?”

When it is purchased by former astronaut Mark Kelly, husband of former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, at a gun store in Tucson, Ariz. At least, that must be what the Associated Press decided when it reported about Kelly’s controversial gun buy that he posted on his own Facebook page; a story picked up in Wednesday’s Seattle Times.

==========================

BULLETIN: Fox News is reporting that the Senate Judiciary Committee has approved on a 18-8 strict party line vote, Sen. Dianne Feinstein's bill to ban so-called "assault weapons." The bill should reach the full Senate sometime in April, Fox News indicated. More details will be forthcoming.

==========================

Suddenly, the used AR-15 semiautomatic rifle Kelly bought, but has yet to pick up because it was used and there is a 20-day wait on such guns so the police in Arizona can determine whether it was stolen, has become a “military-style” rifle. Here’s what the Times’ version of the story said:

The MSM seems astounded that the new media is showing light on stories that they would have routinely spiked.

I kind of feel for Mark Kelly. Who hasn’t been to a gun store and not been compelled by an impulse buy? Ooh, shiny!

But well before choosing the path he is on, Kelly needed to decide if he was going to remain a regular Joe, or be a Democrat party hack. The latter allows for lots of tail and blow, but some sins they don’t forgive easily. Kennedys get a “kill one chick each” pass, but even they can’t be pictured enjoying firearms, unless it’s understood to be propaganda for getting one over on the rubes.

Yeah, right. Thinly veiled attempt to delay the purchase of a gun. There is a national music store that sells used musical equipment but will not allow them for sale until it determines if they were stolen or not. Is AZ saying they can't determine if a gun is stolen or not until someone tries to buy it? I call BS.

I believe it was 10 to 8, not 18 to 8.
