I’m guessing the violent and lawless Kiki had violent and lawless friends and family.

The kid had a .38? I thought they were illegal to carry in NYC. Why didn’t the gun control law stop him from having a gun? (Do I really need the /s/ tag?)

Must not have been in a “gun free zone”. that would have kept any of this from happening. /s/

It's possible, even likely that while Kiki had violent and lawless friends, he had a family that is church-going and law abiding. He may have even had two sets of friends: the street gang, and the friends his mother approved of, and went to church with him. That's one of the great tragedies created by the Democratic Party's Poverty Industrial Complex. A single mother is essentially forced to send her children to public school, and public school is Gang Central Station.
