BHP Billiton Petroleum will hold several jobs fairs throughout South Texas in early April.
The company, one of the biggest operators in South Texas, is looking for drilling and completions superintendents and supervisors, instrumentation automation technicians, mechanics, construction technicians, planning specialists and operations technicians pumper lease operators.
Here are the places and times for the BHP South Texas Road Show:
April 2, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Victoria Country Club in Victoria
April 3: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Spring Creek Place Event Center in Cuero
April 4: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Kenedy Municipal Auditorium in Kenedy
April 9: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Floresville Event Center in Floresville
April 10, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Jourdanton Community Center in Jourdanton
April 11, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Solomon P. Ortiz Center in Corpus Christi
Brilliant. Jobs fair in places with almost 100% employment. That will surely work out well.
Of course, these are the same people who responded to a heat stroke by hiring “hydration technicians”. Glorified water boys, two for each rig, to offer water on the hour. Nanny state oil company... geeesh.
Texas Eagle Ford Jobs Fairs ping
Maybe I missed it if that was sarcasm, but God Bless BHP and the Eagle Ford Play. Those counties in Texas are booming, as are the nearby counties outside the Eagle Ford. They will fill those jobs, and the resulting employment of workers in hotel, dining, entertainment, housing and retail will grow, too.
Not necessarily stupid, either. This pretty much assures that those who show up will be sufficiently motivated to travel from whereever they are to the site of the job fair.
If I had relevant experience and needed a job, I'd borrow money for plane fare.
I think I will go to the on in Cuero and see about getting a new job...
Really...
“”Brilliant. Jobs fair in places with almost 100% employment”
You’d have to have 100% employment to have a full fledged labor shortage.
