Given the SCOTUS ruling on Heller, affirming the the Second Amendment IS a right guaranteed by the Constitution, any fees or taxes associated with the purchase of a firearm would be no different than a “poll tax.”

The McDonald case is most probably the last pro-gun decision that will come from SCOTUS. Considering the Obama-care decision, the RATS have something on Roberts. He was "shown" something that made him "flip". Blackmail is the new way of the world.
