Bob Crewe had made his mark in the Fifties with “Silhouettes” by the Rays, which he wrote and produced. He had made millions as producer and songwriter for the Four Seasons. Now he had his own label and a new vista for accomplishment.
Crewe ran across a band named Billy Lee & the Rivieras, and he renamed them, giving them a string of hits. This song had been a small hit for the Righteous Brothers in 1963 before they signed with Phil Spector. This week it debuted at #60 in its run to the Top 20.
