I’m in NE Ohio and about the only ammo I have had a problem locating is .22 LR.

I've found the availability of some specific items to be different from the general consensus as well, and have to conclude that it very much matters where one lives and how dependent one is on certain large retailers.

(The retailers who instituted quantity limitations around the first of the year also seem to be the ones that have at least a little of nearly everything.)

If you are looking for an actual civil war gun, you have to find one at an auction. If you are looking at the Henry repro models, you just have to put in an order and wait. There are still some lever actions available. Go to Gallery of Guns and enter 45LC as the caliber and yes for stock on hand. It will show some Rossi leverguns and a Puma. Also the Circuit Judge revolver guns are really nice shooters, IMO.

Thanks. We have about 2-3 years left here, then we’re gone. If the gun laws get any worse, we may up our timeframe!

I went to Cabelas yesterday and they had plenty of .40 and .45 but no .22lr or 5.56. The two Walmarts didn’t have any of the above and the Walmart in Monticello, MN said they hadn’t had any shipments of 5.56 or .22lr in eight weeks.

Gun shows are an almost guaranteed huge hit these days, drawing in some cases three times their usual numbers. But the biggest draw by far is ammo. One show I saw an advertisement for recently boasted 8 semi-truck trailers full of ammo.

Oregon shelves are bare. Gun show vendors have some and have raised the prices to obscene levels. On Ebay, 9mm reloading dies are going for 3 times normal price.

Lever guns rule, and will increasingly rule when all the high tech AR-15s and such fail in the early months for lack of special lubes, replacement parts, gunsmiths, batteries for the red dots, etc.

Winchester 94, Pre-64, 30-30, backed up by a Remington 2700 pump in .308 - should still be working many years after “assault rifles” have all failed for lack of high tech support.

My 94 lives about 8 inches from my mousepad with a full tube plus 13 rounds in a stock band.

Quote from a Robert Heinlein book I’ve been reading recently which might give you some food for thought:

“There is an old Chinese adage, ‘In the course of a long life a wise man will be prepared to abandon his baggage several times.’ it has never been more true than it is today.”

The above was written about 1945/46 or so.

Easier said than done, of course, and imho, only you and your communion with the Lord can show you the proper timing and calling of your location.

Other words to ponder might be those of Joshua (I think it was Joshua! - not a Bible scholar here) who admonished us (those of us who love God) to come apart and be a separate and chosen people.

Still some of this around, probably the best made military rifle yet, the K-31. RUAG makes this ammo, it's all match quality.

They are going to need it to defend themselves from the Chinese, when we no longer have a military that can do it.

More armed Hawaiian women equals fewer Kamaniwanalaya’s.

Also puts a new sense of urgency in a guy's mind when they say, "Don't stop...".

“There’s no .22 except bird shot loads”

I ordered three boxes of Remington 22LR hollow points from Cabellas in January. Got an email last week they have sent it. That was so long ago, I don't remember if it's boxes of 50 or 100. Three boxes was the limit to buy. At that time, Cabellas wouldn't even do a backorder for CCI 22LR hollow points, so I ordered the Remington.

After that, during this dearth of 22 ammo, I started searching every ammo seller every day. One day, CheaperThanDirt had CCI 22LR hollow points and three boxes was the limit. I grabbed my credit card as fast as I could, to get those three boxes of 50 each. By the end of that day, they were out of those boxes.

The thing is, I ordered the cartridges before I ever found a Ruger 22LR. Now, I have one. I also ordered the Ruger made 25 cartridge magazine for it in January, and that came last week. I finally have all the parts together - the Ruger rifle, the Ruger magazine and 150 CCI hollow points and three Remington boxes to add to that when they get here.

I have a half box (+/- 25 rds) of .25 acp and no gun in that caliber anymore. I’d love to find a way to trade it round-for-round for any other caliber.

Almost ditto: mine’s in the gun safe, but it’s the one at the front, loaded, with an additional 9 round stock sleeve, and a 50 round bandolier ready to go. My “go to” rifle.

Seeing this coming, I bought a Ruger 38 special revolver back in September of last year and plenty of 38 special hollow points - ammo was easy to find then. Then, I put a red laser spotter on that revolver. The problem was, it only holds five cartridges and that's not enough no matter what Biden says, so I got the 22LR with the 25 magazine to have more ammo to fire immediately. By the time I decided on the 22LR rifle, rifles and ammo were scarce.

I am a woman, but I will surely kill a zombie trying to get in my house.

Good thinking but have you ever looked into weapons based on the garand action?

Build for abuse and low tech maintenance.
