America could be on the threshold of its greatest century.
With new drilling technologies, the United States will soon have an energy surplus. This means trillions of dollars in new wealth and a foreign policy not dominated by oil. ....
But the bright future is at risk if the federal government continues on its arc of irresponsibility. America's government-spending addiction and its lackluster system of public education are the two greatest impediments to achieving the country's potential.
I know conservatives have the solution. As governor of Florida, I balanced the state budget for eight years in a row while cutting taxes every year.
First, America needs a government that allows both small people to rise and large businesses to fail. Government has a role in regulating, but its role shouldn't include picking the winners and losers.

He'll be foisted upon us as a candidate, though.
Jeb is probably the best of the Bushes. But he is a Bush and I have learned not to trust a Bush. Plus I am almost with Ann Coulter on illegal immigration. I am almost a single issue voter on that and Jeb is (or recently was) in the amnesty camp. His changing his position on illegals is transparent posturing. Not buying it at all.

I only read the article because of your post, and you’re right — he admittedly made some good points. One of the best IMO was his statement that “...too often the conservative message was focused on what we are against, not on what we support.” To that I would add we need only to look at the optimism and conviction of Ronald Reagan for inspiration.
Where he kind of lost me, however, was his remark about “each of us in the conservative movement”. Where were Jeb’s “consdervative” principles when the Tea Party movement was helping to elect a Republican congress in 2010? I fear he’s just another Republican who talks a good game before an election and then reverts right back to their natural RINO posture. Conservative voters have been fooled time and again by this ruse.
The Bush name is still toxic. It helped Obama win twice — 2008 and 2012.
If Jeb Amnesty thinks it will be any less toxic in 2016, after the tepid response he got at the CPAC, he is in for a rude awakening.
[Some reports said he requested his name NOT be placed on the CPAC ballot. Hmmmm. Maybe he does know the Bush name is still toxic.]

I agree. I don’t think he is going to run, I don’t think he should run. But I think that the Republican party needs to wake up and focus on a Reagan-like optimism and positive energy and message of how do we are going to return our country to greatness and unite people focusing on key messages.
This is what Newt did and succeeded in returning the House into Republican hands.
In the meantime Obama is focusing on the divide and conquer approach to destroy the Republican party.
Dr Ben Carson pointed this out at CPAC:
“He said if somebody was in the White House and “wanted to destroy this nation,” then “that person might create division among the people ... undermine the financial stability of the country ... weaken the military ... Coincidentally, those are the very things that are happening right now.”

Bush didn’t run those years. Obama won because conservatives were divided.
