Up to 30 fire departments from East Tennessee this morning are battling flames that have consumed 35 cabins and 135 acres in Sevier County, a spokesman said.
Two Black Hawk helicopters from the Tennessee Air National Guard stationed at McGhee Tyson Airport left at 7 a.m. to begin an aerial survey of the carnage, Perrin Anderson, spokesman for Sevier County, said this morning. After surveying the situation, the choppers will then will contribute their own unique aid.

Also some good news. Heavy thunderstorms are on the way today. Unfortunately high winds as it approaches & hail, but it sounds like it will take care of the fire threat in the area.

I drove through Pigeon Forge several years back, and planned to visit Dollywood. I should have planned better, as we drove through on a Monday—and that’s the day they are closed..
If you ever get through there, again, they have an AWESOME knife museum nearby. My son was in hog heaven!
