Its becoming more difficult for gun owners across the country to find safe haven, as the powers that be on both federal and state levels begin introducing a quagmire of anti-gun legislation hindering the rights of law-abiding citizens. States like Illinois are notorious for their anti-gun agendas, states like Texas are viewed as a shooters paradise.
To provide you, dear reader, with a primer of gun-friendly regions of the United States, weve analyzed all 50 statesand Washington, D.C.and ranked them to find out which are the most pro-gun.
States can score a maximum 10 points per category, with a perfect score of 50. Full disclosure, though: No state attained that perfect score, though two states came awfully close. As was expected, Washington, D.C., kicked off our list with a whopping zero points, and other anti-gun Meccas such as New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and California werent far behind.
States were measured on gun rights/friendliness to gun owners by the following criteria: CCW/Open Carry: Only states that dont require a permit for concealed or open carry scored a perfect 10 in this category. MSRs: States with no restrictions on the kind, type or number of modern sporting rifles (ARs, AKs, etc.) that can be owned or purchased scored a 10 in this category. Class 3/NFA: The majority of states allow their citizens to own Class 3/NFA-type firearms (machine guns, suppressors, short-barreled rifles, etc.), provided they follow the federal licensing standard, but not every state is yea or nay. Castle Doctrine/Stand Your Ground: States scores were determined based on how strong your the law is regarding self-defense in and out of the home, and whether in the right youre immune from civil prosecution. Miscellaneous: How pro-gun the state culture is has a lot to do with scoring in this category.

I have lived in VT, I visit there still quite often.
I have never, ever seen anyone carrying (aside from rifles during deer season.)
And this was in the rural Northeast Kingdom. I guess I will have to pay more attention.
“Idaho is #32? Uh...no.”
I agree. Should be top 5 at worst. I lived in Coeur d’Alene ‘95-’98. The town 4th of July parade had a guy driving his British Scout armored car with a mounted Browning 1919 converted to 8mm. He also took it out to the Fernan gun club 4th of July machine gun shoot and ripped through a couple belts. Being rather poor at the time I was exceedingly jealous.
g&a is owned by liberals now. I do not have specifics but I read about it on AR15.com.

“Arizona per The Guns & Ammo Network is nomber 1.”
Actually, it tied with Vermont (both scored 49 out of 50 possible points).
Amazing that two states, so different, could be so equally-ranked.
Actually when all is said and done, after the country has collapsed, I sense the folks ‘way up in VT have a better chance to survive the hard times than do folks in most other states. There’s a reason for that.
The natives will, but not the transplants.
