What they really want, and will fight hard for, while looking like they have compromised and are being [reasonable] if a National Firearm Registry Data Base, this will then place the power in the hands of LE who will then use it to confiscate weapons from Americans through attrition.

Note that the rationale for killing it is that it’ll be tough on Red State Dems this year.

Should the Schumer bill pass, and the Red State Dems keep their seats and preserve the Dem majority, her restrictions will be back on the agenda in early 2015.
