Yes, they can and do vote in many municipalities, but not for president. Look it up.

Secure the border; deport illegal aliens on contact with police; stop enticing illegal aliens: no driver license, no college tuition, nothing whatsoever; prosecute employers.

The other glaring problem with any loosening of the standards for staying here is that you KNOW the hispanic and immigrants rights groups will immediately file suit with one friendly court after another until some judge declares that we don't have 'second class persons' in this country.
Making them citizens will then become the next 'gay marriage'-like cultural crusade.
Political pressure will be irresistible and it WILL happen.

What dream world do you live in? The Supreme Court is about to rule that all yo have to do is give your word that you are a citizen to vote. California has a law that you can't even ask about citizenship at the polls. Many cities let non citizens vote in elections.
