School bond election deals appear illegal

State Treasurer Bill Lockyer asked the California attorney general Monday to investigate whether school officials were breaking the law by hiring banks and their political strategists to promote bond measures before voters. Lockyer did not name the schools or banks involved in these deals. But some of the examples he describes in a letter to Attorney General Kamala Harris are the same as the Register found in place at Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified in a recent investigation.

Wouldn't the banks be expected to hire the PR firms by themselves? Is it really the case that the school districts are hiring ad firms and PR firms with school district funds that are going to be made good with borrowed money??

Californians have got to be the most stupid people on the planet. Otherwise, why aren't the school board members all looking for employment this very afternoon?

Oh. Don't tell me, let me guess. District administrators are not elected but are appointed by some "non-partisan" body that is answerable to exactly no one except the Teacher's Union. How close am I?
