WASHINGTON In a terse exchange with ICE Director John Morton on Tuesday, South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy accused the department head of endangering the safety of Americans with the recent release of over 2,200 illegal immigrant detainees, including aggravated felons.
The exchange, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing entitled The Release of Criminal Detainees by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement: Policy or Politics, got heated as Gowdy assailed the administrations response to sequestration.
It does look like the decision to release the detainees was a political determination and not a monetary determination, Gowdy said. It appears to me that the release of the detainees was part of a sequester campaign that included the fictional firing of teachers, the closing of the White House for student tours, the displacement of meat inspectors and now we are going to release aggravated felonssome aggravated felons onto the street.

Why not release AMERICAN CITIZEN prisoners with minor offenses rather than ILLEGAL ALIEN felons, hmmmmm?
God Bless Trey Gowdy. It’s about time someone callled out the criminal enterprise.
[snip]FLORENCE, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - An Arizona sheriff said there’s a clear safety concern for people in the state. The federal agency in charge said that’s not the case. KGUN9 News looked at the concerns and possible risks of the feds’ decision to release illegal immigrants.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement made that decision last month ahead of sequester budget cuts. Now, ICE reveals a number of those 2,228 people are convicted criminals.
Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said “whistleblowers” have given him those details.
“We have direct information from ICE — federal agents here in Pinal County — that those who were released had convictions — not just charges,” Babeu said. “(They had) convictions for weapons violations, for narcotics trafficking, for drug smuggling. (They’re) members of the cartels.”
When it comes to dereliction of duty I’m wondering if Bill Clinton is still ahead, or if Obama has caught up to him yet.
IMPEACH 0bama for willfully inflicting fear and pain on the American people!
One can think of several possible answers to that question, none of them good.
The most benign answer I can think of is this: they released American Citizen prisoners because they can be expected to (1) cause the most mayhem for ordinary Americans and (2) be the most difficult to catch when the "sequester" is "sequestered."
I think you meant to say 'Illegal Alien' prisoners, right?
Yes, of course. Fingers faster than brain. Sorry for the confusion.
God Bless Curt Gowdy, the American Sportsman.
