The dramatic shift in the Republican Party on immigration continued Tuesday, as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), a conservative tea party icon and possible 2016 presidential contender, endorsed an overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws that would allow the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants to obtain legalized status. “Immigration will not occur until conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. That’s why I’m here today: to begin that conversation and become part of the solution,” he said in a breakfast speech Tuesday morning before the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Washington.

I don’t know if he believes that or not. But I also think he means what he says. He was adamant that he would go along with anything until the border was secured.

Rand Paul was born in Penn. moved to Lake Jackson Texas when he was 5 years old. After graduation from highschool he attended Baylor University. I think he knows Texas pretty well.

It’s a dream, yes.

But, like I said about the mumbling, stuporous Sen. Leahy, committee chair!? the other day at the Cruz v Feinstein bout, he (Leahy) can be a doddering, incoherent coot, but not in a decision making position.

Sweet Jesus help us please.

Then he’s welcome to go back there, gain residency, see what it has turned into, learn Spanish, the state language, and run and gain a senate seat there and then legislate on this issue, but he shows no familiarity with the situation nor does he show any evidence of enforcing the immigration laws already in place.

Just embrace the cleansing nuclear fire that compromise is about to rain down on our heads. And curse the birth of every one of the people, pol and supporter alike, who backed these unAmerican idiots as the country burns.

Because that’s all we can do.

Lol all you like. Amnesty is liberal. Glad he likes live babies. But Amnesty is a 100% liberal construct.

Even Reagan admitted his mistake.

Paul said he would want Congress to be involved in certifying that border security has improved sufficiently to open the legalization path, a requirement that many immigrant advocates are sure to oppose as unnecessarily injecting politics into the process.

“Some may object to this,” he acknowledged. “But if we don’t, I don’t think we’ll get conservatives on board.”

Well, he's 100% correct that.

They learned it by watching us. We compromise our principles, they see no problem with trashing theirs.

Oh, and the next time you see a Freeper telling us we have to moderate and that principle does not matter, remember this thread.

This is why principle matters.
