The police have become political and militarized by DHS and all the good cultural mentalities and practices of American community policing that was born of a balance in the constitution has stripped from the profession. They are like an occupying force now and see citizens as the enemy. The more they abuse citizens, the more DHS is correct in their assessment that Americans are the government’s enemies. That is as stressful as combat.

It’s no wonder they experience what a soldier does. But at least the soldier is in a foreign land in a justified war. It’s a mentality that does not belong in an American’s heart and mind in his own land with his own people. Likewise it is not the way Americans traditionally view the police.

Unfortunatley this is nothing new when one does police work for a long time. It has happened in other cities and is never an easy way to end ones carrer. I know of two like the Chicago officer who decided it was too much and took their own lives. Sad as it is, these officers need our help as well. Yes there are “bad” cops but IMO there one hell of a lot “good” cops out there who might, just might need someone to talk with. It is a tight fraternity and often “civilians” just don’t understand what some officers experience that causes them to self distruct. I pray for the officer(s).

I so agree with your words. The area this officer worked is THE worst of the worst. When he said that those kids have no way out, he is 100% correct. I do not know what the answer is, but I know the gross amount of money sent is skimmed much like a 3rd world country.

And yet, there was an article the other day how Rahm could be mayor for life. How vile and disgusting is that? The only time he comes out of his hole in regards to the constant slaughter, is if it will make him look concerned and compassionate. Jerk

Our across-the-street neighbor was a Lt in our towns police force for many years. Our town is very peaceful. He got promoted to be Chief a couple towns over and, unfortunately, that town had both good- and bad-sides of the tracks. And the bad side was REALLY bad. It finally got to him, just as you say, and he cashed out. I can’t even imagine dealing with the lowest of low-life scum every day of my career (it’s bad enough dealing with the difficult people at work).
